Judd Trump edges Ding Junhui to set up semi-final with Mark Williams

Judd Trump completed a 5-3 win over Ding Junhui in the German Masters quarter-finals to secure a meeting with Mark Williams in the last four in Berlin.

Trump enjoyed breaks of 140, 51, 64, 57 and 57 to secure his progress with Ding contributing 51, 67 and 62 as he recovered from trailing 4-1 to 4-3 behind before world number three Trump sealed his progress with a timely double on the pink in the eighth frame.

“I was ahead and cruising,” said Trump.
“I went in off after going into the pack in the fifth frame and then I thought it was going to be the same as the Masters. The balls went scrappy, I lost the next two frames and I was under it. I was so pleased to get through in the end.”
Northern Ireland Open winner Mark Williams will face Trump on Saturday afternoon at the Tempodrom after his 5-3 win over world number 37 Jimmy Robertson.
Williams opened with knocks of 57 and 89 for a 2-0 lead only for Robertson to restore parity at 2-2 with a run of 76 in the fourth frame.
The match moved to 3-3 before two-time world champion Williams won the final two frames to progress.
Xiao Guodong opened up 4-0 lead over Graeme Dott, but the 2006 world champion rallied to level at 4-4 to force a decider he would win for a rousing 5-4 success.
Shaun Murphy completed a 5-4 victory over Ryan Day to secure a meeting with Dott.
The pair were tied at 3-3 before a 130 run from Day saw him move within a frame of victory, but Murphy won the last two frames to progress.
