Graeme Dott battles back to beat Shaun Murphy in German Masters semi-final

Dott last appeared in a ranking final when he lost to 18-13 Neil Robertson in the 2010 World Championship final, but showed some of the form that carried him to the world title in 2006 as he punished Murphy for failing to capitalise on the chances that came his way.

The first four frames were split with Scotsman Dott making 66 and 78 in the first and third frames while Murphy ran in 98 and 96 in the second and fourth frames to show his scoring game was in decent shape.

A 69 from Dott saw him move 3-2 clear only for 2005 world champion Murphy to respond with knocks of 55 and 69 enough for a 4-3 advantage.

Murphy seemed in command, but could not score heavily enough at the key juncture of the match as breaks of 74, 66 and a lovely 121 completed Dott's win before a thrilled 2,000 crowd inside Berlin's Tempodrom, a venue that is arguably the most atmospheric in the sport.

Dott will face Judd Trump or Mark Williams in the best-of-17 frames final on Sunday. The second semi-final begins at 7pm on Saturday night.
