Bai Yulu secures first Women's World Snooker Championship with knife-edge win over Mink Nutcharut

Bai Yulu reached the final of the Women's World Championship last year, but was the losing finalist against Baipat Siripaporn. She was able to avenge that defeat on Sunday in Dongguan Changping, China, when she came up against one of the best in women's snooker, Mink Nutcharut. The duo fought to a 5-5 score before Nutcharut allowed her opponent to steal in on the final pink to win.

Bai Yulu defeated Mink Nutcharut in the Women’s World Snooker Championship final as she won 6-5 on the last pink in Dongguan Changping, China.
As a result of her win, Bai earned a spot on the World Snooker Tour for the first time in her career, and she will now be on the circuit for the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons.
The 20-year-old avenged her defeat to Baipat Siripaporn in the 2023 final by winning her first world title.
Nutcharut, champion two years ago, did not drop a frame on her run to the final but she found Bai a tougher opponent.
Bai went 3-1 ahead as she displayed her excellent form with a century of 122, the biggest break of the tournament.
Nutcharut responded with three consecutive frames to go ahead, including a half-century break of 62, but Bai then hit back with breaks of 97 and 75 to go back in front.
Thailand’s Nutcharut then rallied to take a tense 10th to tee up a decisive 11th frame.
Both players had a chance to win the match in the frame. The scores were poised at 46-43 in Nutcharut’s favour but she failed to find position on the brown, and Bai sunk the brown then blue to go 52-46 clear.
Facing a snooker, Nutcharut then connected with the pink but let in her opponent, with Bai then clinching victory.
