Norway's Therese Johaug picks up first World Cup win of the season

Norwegian Therese Johaug claimed her first cross country World Cup victory of the season as she came home first in the ladies’ 5km in Ruka, Finland.

Friday saw the World Cup campaign get underway with a sprint event, Johaug finishing 18th as her compatriot Maiken Caspersen Falla took the victory.

But Johaug, who finished second overall in last year's World Cup, returned 24 hours later and came home in 14:27.3 minutes to claim her first victory of the season.

Johaug put in a dominant display as she finished 17.6 seconds ahead of runner-up Charlotte Kalla of Sweden.

But there was more for Sweden fans to celebrate as Ida Ingemarsdotter completed the podium in third.

After two events Ingemarsdotter leads the World Cup standings on 80 points, three ahead of Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg of Norway.
