Toulouse to sign Du Toit

With Frederic Michalak sidelined for four months after undergoing surgery for a ruptured knee ligament and Jean-Frederic Dubois also out for six to eight weeks with multiple fractures to the face, the three-time European Champions were facing a crisis at fly-half.

Both centre Yannick Jauzion and scrum-half Valentine Courrent have covered the number ten position but with limited success and with Jean-Baptiste Elissalde currently out of action with a calf injury, Courrent is needed in his more usual position of number nine.

"He [Du Toit] is a quality player, and an interesting acquisition for the club because he can play in several back-line positions," said Toulouse President Rene Bouscatel.

"He could line up this Sunday against Montauban and he is available for the Heineken Cup."

The 29-year-old Du Toit - who has won twelve caps for South Africa - currently plays for the South African side Central Cheetahs - competing in the Super 14 along with teams from Australia and New Zealand - and with the Free State Cheetahs who have shared this year's Currie Cup with the Blue Bulls.
