England hooker Amy Cokayne will miss the Women's Six Nations encounter against Ireland at Twickenham on Saturday after being hit with a one-game ban. Cokayne was sent off during the Red Roses' 46-0 victory over Scotland last time out after receiving two yellow cards. A disciplinary committee initially opted for a two-week ban before reducing it by 50% after applying mitigation.

England hooker Amy Cokayne will miss Saturday’s Women’s Six Nations clash with Ireland at Twickenham after being sent off against Scotland.
The 27-year-old was dismissed in the second half after receiving two yellow cards in Edinburgh as England ran out comfortable 46-0 victors.
Cokayne was sent to the sin-bin for a tip tackle on Evie Gallagher before returning to the game and being shown red for a high hit on Lana Skeldon.
It was the only blight on an otherwise straightforward afternoon in the Scottish capital as the Red Roses made it three wins from three to close in on a sixth straight title and second successive Grand Slam.
Cokayne was handed a two-game ban for her actions by a disciplinary committee, but it was reduced to one match after mitigation was applied.
“England No 2, Amy Cokayne, today [Wednesday] appeared before an independent Disciplinary Committee via video link having received a red card as the result of two yellow cards issued for offences contrary to Laws 9.13 and 9.18 in the match between Scotland and England on Saturday 13th April 2024,” a World Rugby statement read.
“Having accepted that the acts of foul play justified the red card and by applying World Rugby's sanctioning provisions, the Disciplinary Committee determined that a two-week entry point was appropriate with the full 50% mitigation applied, reducing the sanction to one week.”
After only just returning from injury, it means she will miss the visit of Ireland to Twickenham, although she will be available for the Red Roses’ final encounter against France, which could be a Grand Slam decider.
While a blow, England head coach John Mitchell said he had no complaints about the sanction.
“[At the] end of the day we encourage the girls to play on the edge. Sometimes you get it right and sometimes you don't,” Mitchell said. “Amy has just come back.
“I guess it just creates awareness for all of us that we got to make sure that we get our tackle height right.”
