ARGENTINA SPOIL STEVE TANDY'S FIRST WALES MATCH WITH RECORD-BREAKING WIN
Argentina produced a dazzling display to put a dampener on Steve Tandy’s first game in charge of Wales, as Los Pumas won 52-28 at Principality Stadium.
The visitors scored seven tries as they ran riot in Cardiff, with Pedro Delgado, Geronimo Prisciantelli (2), Simon Cruz Benitez, Mateo Carreras, Bautista Delguy and Santiago Grondona all on the scoresheet.
Wales showed some fight throughout as they entered a new era, but Argentina ultimately had too much quality for them and produced their biggest win over Wales.
The visitors started in emphatic style, scoring within eight minutes, sending the Principality Stadium into pure silence.
Los Pumas produced a brilliant maul from a line-out inside Wales’ 22’, before Delgado bundled over the line for his first Argentina try.
Just three minutes later, Argentina had their second try of the match through Prisciantelli, his debut try for Los Pumas.
Carreras produced an electric break down the left-hand side, before chipping through for Prisciantelli to latch on to and score next to the posts.

Wales seemed to be all over the place, but fought back valiantly, scoring their first try of the Tandy era, with Tomos Williams finishing off a lovely move.
Tandy’s side were not done there, with Dewi Lake levelling things up with a brilliant burst over the line from close range.
Just as Wales were getting back into the game and the noise inside Principality Stadium was rising, Ben Thomas was sin-binned for kicking out, handing the advantage back to Argentina.
The visitors wasted no time capitalising, scoring two tries in two minutes to gain control of the match and silence the home crowd.
Cruz leapt over the Welsh defence to score Argentina’s third after a sustained period of pressure, before winger Carreras got the fourth try of the match.
Carreras was the one who scored, but the try was all about Pablo Matera, who collected the ball from the restart, beat two defenders, before kicking perfectly into the path of Carreras; a moment of pure magic from the forward.

Argentina added a fifth try just minutes after the break, with Delguy getting in on the act after collecting Prisciantelli’s cross-field kick.
Despite the visitors’ dominance, Wales continued to fight and were rewarded with a third try, as captain Jac Morgan powered over from close range.
Morgan was forced off with a wrist injury sustained during the try and Wales’ fightback was short-lived, as Prisciantelli intercepted Williams’ pass, before running through to score under the posts.
Wales did manage to get a fourth try before full-time, with scrum-half Tomos Williams finding Blair Murray with a brilliant flat pass, allowing the full-back to walk over the line.
However, Argentina added a seventh try in added time to record their biggest win over Wales, as Grondona scored.
Los Pumas visit Scotland next week in a highly anticipated clash, while Wales look to get back on track against Japan. You can watch both matches LIVE on TNT Sports and discovery+

STEVE TANDY: THERE IS LOTS TO BE PROUD OF
Steve Tandy has been speaking to TNT Sports:
"I think it is disappointing, losing any test match is disappointing. However, I think there is pride to be taken from what the boys did. Some of the tries we scored were great, and we could have had a couple more.
"We need to look at our discipline, but there is lots to be proud of, and you can see what we have worked on in training. However, there were too many sloppy moments to win a game like this against Argentina.
"We were really pleased with the first half performance and the second try, there was a bouncing ball. Argentina were fantastic in the air.
"The tries either side of half-time were a blow, but I am happy with what I saw, and it’s the beginning of a journey for us and when you look at the boys' intent and fight, there is a really good team to work with."

"We knew they are a tough team, and it is tough to come here. We tried to stick together and have a good work and to trust what we trained.
"We have three nice matches coming up, I am really happy to be here. We can celebrate tonight and then look ahead to those matches."
