IRELAND KEEP TITLE DREAM ALIVE WITH BONUS POINT WIN IN TENSE ENCOUNTER
Ireland kept their Six Nations title dream alive with a 27-17 win over Wales in Dublin, securing a bonus point win in the process.
They came flying out of the blocks and scored within six minutes when Jacob Stockdale barged over and it seemed that Wales were going to be in for a long evening.
Jack Conan went over a few moments later in what was men against boys in the opening exchanges, but the try was disallowed due to a knock on from Tom O’Toole at the preceding ruck.
Dan Edwards got Wales onto the board after 17 minutes and Wales would have been delighted to be only four points down after all the pressure they had faced in the first quarter.
Jack Crowley did score Ireland’s second try of the night in the wide channel, failing to convert his own try to put Ireland into a 12-3 lead after 37 minutes.

Then came the moment of the match as Wales prop Rhys Carre received the ball outside the 22 and shoved Rob Baloucoune, before sprinting into space and managing to dive over for a magnificent score.
Edwards converted the try and suddenly the Ireland lead was just 12-10 at half-time.
There was an almost immediate reaction from Ireland, with Jack Conan scoring four minutes into the second half and, despite a lengthy TMO review, this one stood, restoring Ireland’s nine-point lead thanks to Crowley’s conversion.
The game then ebbed and flowed, with the next score vital and both sides cancelling each other out.
James Botham scored for Wales from point blank range to reduce the gap again to two points and with 15 minutes to go, Ireland only led 19-17.
Wales had lost their previous 14 Six Nations matches and had not won in Dublin since 2012, yet they put themselves in with a chance of an historic win.

Those hopes were quickly crushed when Jamie Osbourne dived over for the bonus point try but he did miss a routine conversion to leave Wales in with a shot of a draw.
Three minutes from time Crowley added a penalty to put Ireland 10 points clear and seal the win – ruling out a major shock in the process.
Wales did come again looking to take a second losing bonus point in as many weeks, but Tadgh Beirne expertly turned the ball over and Ciaran Frawley kicked it out.
The win leaves Ireland with a thin chance of the title, needing Scotland to beat France to take it into the final weekend, while Wales face Italy on Super Saturday in a game they will be desperate to win.
FULL TIME: Ireland 27-17 Wales
And that is that!
Ireland win a late turnover and kick the ball out and they seal a 27-17 win.
It was a case of job done for Ireland as they secure a bonus point win and keep their unlikely title dream, and the Triple Crown hunt, alive.
Credit to Wales though, they put in a shift tonight and are very unlucky to leave with nothing.

IRELAND ON THE ATTACK
Ireland 24-17 Wales
Ireland are going for the kill and Rob Baloucoune gets a delightful offload away to Ciaran Frawley who chips over.
Wales are able to scramble but only as far as 10 metres out.
Ireland then attack again and win a penalty, which Crowley will look to slot over.

TRY IRELAND!
Ireland 24-17 Wales
And there is the bonus point for Ireland!
Wales are making them work for it but when they get it right, Ireland are top quality and Jamie Osbourne goes over for Ireland after Jacob Stockdale offloads to him.
Jack Crowley misses the kick and there is also a yellow card to Tomos WIlliams - a double whammy for Wales there...

BRILLIANT SCRAMBLE FROM WALES
Ireland 19-17 Wales
That is sensational from Dan Edwards, absolutely brilliant.
He scoops the ball up over his line and somehow evades the onrushing Gibson-Park, manages to stay in field and retain possession and Wales clear their lines.
Ireland are coming back though...

TRY WALES!
Ireland 12-10 Wales
OH MY WORD!
WHAT A TRY RHYS CARRE!
The big man receives the ball from well outside the 22 and just shoves his way past Rob Baloucoune and runs it all the way in and score just before half-time.
An incredible try that will be remembered for the rest of time and Edwards converts to reduce the deficit to just two points - we have a game here in Dublin!

TRY IRELAND!
Ireland 12-3 Wales
Jack Crowley gets over for Ireland and that was coming to be honest.
A period of sustained pressure from Ireland got them right to the line and Crowley in a 2 on 2 was able to dummy and force his way over out wide.
The conversion is missed though so only a five-point score.

WALES SURVIVE!
Ireland 7-3 Wales
Ireland seemed desinted to score but Alex Mann brilliantly stepped up and intercepted the ball on the tryline, almost certainly saving a try.
Wales clear their lines and then force Ireland into touch just outside their 22 - big win for Wales defense there!
