IRELAND WIN 20-13 OVER ITALY TO SECURE THRILLING SIX NATIONS VICTORY
Ireland fought back from a halftime deficit to secure a 20‑13 victory over Italy at the Aviva Stadium, ending the first half trailing after Paolo Garbisi’s penalty and a Nicotera try gave the visitors a rare lead.
Italy’s strong scrum and inventive attack threatened throughout, but Ireland hit back early in the second half with Jack Conan crossing from a lineout drive and Robert Baloucoune finishing a sweeping move that Crowley converted.
Despite a disallowed Lynagh try ruled out for a forward pass, Italy stayed competitive and kicked consecutive penalties from Garbisi to keep the score tight.
Ireland’s defence, marshalled by Stuart McCloskey and supported by smart kicking from Jack Crowley, held firm under sustained Italian pressure.
In the final minutes James Lowe’s interception sparked a late surge before Crowley’s clever double‑tap ended the contest.
The win gives Ireland crucial platform momentum, while Italy should take confidence from their spirited performance even in defeat.
