Newcastle Red Bulls 17-76 Harlequins result - Visitors dominate PREM Rugby clash between bottom two sides

The 10th side hosting the ninth should have been a close game, but instead Harlequins dominated from the first whistle - beating Newcastle by 59 points.

The visitors ran in seven tries before the break against one for the hosts with the game effectively over at just after the mid-way point of the first half. 

Jamie Benson scored a hat-trick, Bryn Bradley scored a brace of tries, while man-of-the-match Sam Riley, Alex Dombrandt, Cadan Murley, Marcus Smith, Will Hobson, Luke Northmore and debutant Jamie Staples all touched down.

For the Falcons, whose defence was deplorable giving away many tries without laying a glove on the scorer, Josh Hodge scored twice and Adam Brocklebank once.

The result gives hope for Quins to finish as high as seventh in the table, but means Newcastle are certain to finish bottom for the third straight year.

A demoralising day for the hosts and a morale-boosting one for the visitors.

And both sides would be happy for the final whistle to put them out of their misery.

After the Newcastle forwards are stopped a few times on the edge of the line. The ball is flung wide by Benitez-Cruz to Hodge who dives in by the corner flag.

Anderson easily shrugs off Hodge's tackle and he passes inside for Bradley to score another untouched try.

Quins showing no signs of slowing up.

Straight from the line out the ball comes out to substitute Porter who dummies to break the line before setting Benson up for his third try, again running in untouched.

An easy kick for Smith.

Smith passes wide and Murley runs around Grayson and then passes on to Benson, back on the pitch and on the scoreboard, who runs in under the posts.

They have a chance to drive for a try from the line out.

A good run from the England winger but Quins are not giving away easy tries.
