Exeter Chiefs delivered a commanding performance against Newcastle Red Bulls at Sandy Park, running out 38-15 winners in a game that highlighted their attacking precision and defensive discipline.

The match started scrappily, with both teams committing handling errors, but Exeter quickly found their rhythm. A series of powerful carries and rapid ball movement allowed The Chiefs to pressure Newcastle repeatedly, while The Red Bulls struggled to match their tempo.

Newcastle did manage to respond at times, with George McGuigan powering a maul over for a try and Alex Hearle finishing a late consolation score in the right corner. Brett Connon and Boeta Chamberlain added points through penalties and conversions, but it was never enough to seriously threaten.

Exeter’s dominance was evident in both attack and defence. Key moments included a strong defensive scramble by Newcastle to prevent a try from Vintcent and a 60-metre counter-attack sparked by Amanaki Mafi and Connon that, while promising, ultimately ended in touch.

Newcastle also tried to slow the game down strategically, disrupting Exeter’s high-tempo style, but The Chiefs’ ability to exploit space and recycle the ball efficiently ensured they stayed in control.
