BATH BATTLE BACK TO BEAT BRISTOL
England centre Ollie Lawrence scored as Bath Rugby battled back to beat Bristol Bears 40-15 in the West Country derby at The Rec.
The hosts had a disastrous start to proceedings after a botched Finn Russell kick led to a Kalaveti Ravouvou try.
Guy Pepper got his side back on level terms, but moments later, a slick line-out move sent Gabriel Oghre over the whitewash.
A Sam Worsley penalty made it 15-5, but from there on out it was all Bath.
Lawrence got on the end of a delightful Russell chip to close the deficit before Cameron Redpath’s try on the stroke of half-time put the hosts 19-15 ahead.
After the break, Santiago Grondona was shown a yellow card to compound Bristol’s troubles.
Moments later, another excellent Russell kick was collected by Joe Cokanasiga.
The Bath winger converted his chance to make it 26-15 to give his side some breathing room.
Sam Underhill and Henry Arundell scored during a dramatic finish to the game, with Bristol’s Ben Grondona and Bath’s Francois van Wyk both being shown yellow cards for some unsporting behaviour.
