GLOUCESTER DEAL BRISTOL TITLE HOPES BLOW WITH NINE-TRY VICTORY
A rampant Gloucester completed a glorious double over their West Country rivals Bristol Bears for the first time in eight years as they ran in nine tries in a dominant 53-28 Gallagher Premiership victory at a packed Kingsholm.
Having won 44-41 at Bristol in September, the home side picked up from where they left off with Christian Wade (5', 42', 46'), Josh Hathaway (8'), player of the match Seb Atkinson (18', 31', 43'), Chris Harris (14') and George Barton (52') putting the Bears to the sword with a powerful running display set against an exacting wind.
Fitz Harding (20'), James Williams (28', 63') and Max Lahiff (36') responded for the visitors, who had the minor consolation of mustering one bonus-point try in the second half after trailing 34-21 at the break.
While it was a memorable night for the sell-out home crowd, it was also a decent Saturday for Premiership leaders Bath, who moved 10 points clear at the summit following their 47-28 victory over Harlequins earlier on.
After round 13, the Premiership takes a two-week break for European competition.

GLOUCESTER DENIED A LATE TRY!
Referee opts to award a goalline drop-out to Bristol with Barton to the fore as Butler almost finishes off the Carreras set-up in corner, but released the ball as he dived for the line. Mata doing well to prompt the knock-on.

DEFENCE FINDING THEIR TEETH
Probably due to the tiring joints of the back. Meanwhile, Carreras is back involved in the Gloucester attack as they chase another try.

BRISTOL HELD UP ON THE HOME LINE
Almost a try, but not quite as Thacker makes a surge for the line, but is just short. Not quite white line fever, but sums up how eager Gloucester have been to do the hard yards all over this plastic pitch. On cusp of a famous win.

GLOUCESTER DEFENCE WORKING EVER SO HARD
Putting so much effort into preventing Bristol from going over for another easy try. Time just as important for the home side now with fans in full voice.

GLOUCESTER EARN A TIDY ADVANTAGE
A knock-on by Bristol gives Gloucester the scrum chance. Game slowly slowing down after a frantic 70 minutes. Which will surely suit the home side as they try to nurse this one home.

BRISTOL ADDING POWER TO THEIR FORWARDS
Not quite the bomb squad, but plenty of meat for the Bears to chew on. Surely too far back to mount a recovery, but this has been a remarkable match. Don't want to be too hasty as MacGinty finds touch to give the visitors another nice position to attack.

TRY! A BONUS POINT TRY FOR THE VISITORS!
The patient work finally pays off for Bristol as they have their fourth try of the evening to trail 53-28. James Williams picks up off the deck to power over before MacGinty adds conversion. Greeted largely by silence.

BRISTOL WITH A SCRUM IN A DECENT POSITION
What can they make off it inside the home side's 22. Some heavy hits being taken by the Bears, but the white shirts continue to seeks out openings. Gloucester respond with some fine defence. Bates held up out wide.

AT LEAST BRISTOL FANS DON'T HAVE A LONG JOURNEY HOME
Have to look on the bright side of life when your side are trailing your local rivals by 32 points. Home side are using the wind a lot better than Bristol in the first half. Game management critical surely, but all the threat is coming from Gloucester hands.

TRY! THE HOME SIDE GO BEYOND 50 POINTS!
Bristol look very weathered in failing to weather this attacking storm as they move 53-21 ahead. All so simple and clinical as Barton comes off the bench to finish. No conversion. Can the Bears find a response?

BRISTOL TRYING TO OPEN UP THE GAME
But the home side, roared on by a huge home support, are feeling very good in their work and earn a penalty from the turnover. Charlie Atkinson boots into touch to set up more Gloucester movement.
