BATH HANG ON TO SECURE WIN
Bath Rugby cemented their place at the Gallagher Premiership summit after hanging on for a 24-26 win at Exeter Chiefs.
Not in European action, the Chiefs had weeks to prepare for the West Country derby match.
However, last year’s beaten Gallagher Premiership finalists Bath are on the hunt for trophies and led early on through a penalty try after Ben Spencer was illegally halted.
Exeter looked fresh from their break and Jack Yeandle finished a quick move to put the Chiefs back ahead.
Bath then hit their stride with Niall Annett, Josh Bayliss and Will Muir all scoring tries within five minutes to secure a comfortable 26-10 half-time lead.
However, Chiefs were not beaten and winger Paul Brown-Bampoe scored twice to pull the hosts back within two points.
Bath threw on a fresh front row who were able to see out the last 22 minutes to seal the win.
