BATH TOO STRONG FOR QUINS AS CARRERAS SCORE WONDER TRY
Santi Carreras’ terrific try alongside scores from Dan du Preez, Joe Cokanasiga, Dan Frost and Ewan Richards were enough for Bath to cruise to victory at The Stoop.
Quins - who were without a number of stars including Marcus Smith and George Furbank - put up a good fight but ultimately succumbed to the visitors’ quality.
Debutant Du Preez opened the scoring after 13 minutes before Will Porter collected a loose lineout from his side to dance his way to the line to respond but Connor Slevin failed to convert.
Cokanasiga extended Bath’s lead in the 23rd minute, powering his way through a gap to score but Chandler Cunningham-South pounced on a sleeping Bath defence to score Quins’ second try only a minute later.
Then came the game’s big moment. Carreras stopped a nearly guaranteed Quins try by intercepting the final pass with his foot.

The ball looped up in the air, which he caught, and then proceeded to run the length of the pitch to score with 33 minutes played.
There was still time for Frost to go over in the 39th minute after a driving maul. Finn Russell converted, as he did with each first-half try.
Four minutes after the break, Pedro Delgado went over for the hosts to give them hope but Sam Riley soon saw yellow for failing to wrap his arms in the tackle.
With Quins down to 10, they lost momentum and eventually Richards went over late on to seal the five-point win for Bath.

The hosts will be leaving disappointed but with a belief they can do a lot better than they did last season.
To put up a good fight against Bath without their four biggest players is in itself an achievement.
Quins head on the road from here to take on Gloucester next before a trip to Sale.

Last season's runners-up are up-and-running for the season with a bonus point win. Next up for them they host Exeter before a mammoth away fixture against the reigning champions Northampton Saints.

Santi Carreras speaking to TNT Sports after the match and spoke about his wonder try that he will be watching back again and again.
He said: "Really god job from the lads. It has been a good last few weeks. It was long summer for me but I was so excited to get back.
"Once we get into the 22, we score, which is important for us. Every entry in that first half we scored. It just came into my mind [his intercept try with his foot]. It was a two-on-one and I could just try it and it went well. I watched it back once on the big screen and I will watch it back again.”

What a great game of rugby but one where Bath's quality was on display for all to see which proved too much for the hosts.
