Gallagher PREM Rugby fixtures 2026/2: Reigning champions Northampton Saints host Newcastle Red Bulls on opening weekend of season

Rugby fans, it is time to get excited. The fixtures for the 2026/27 season have been revealed just over a month since a thrilling Gallagher PREM Rugby campaign ended with the Northampton Saints defeating Exeter Chiefs 26-17 to clinch the title.

Fans across the land can now mark their calendars as teams’ preparations for the 2026/27 Gallagher PREM season get underway in earnest.
This season will begin on September 25, 2026, and will carry all the way through until the showpiece final at Twickenham on June 19, 2027.
The season begins with a bang too, as Harlequins - after a difficult season last time out - welcome Bath Rugby to Twickenham Stoop on Friday, September 25.
On the same date, reigning champions Northampton Saints host Newcastle Red Bulls, who have had another summer of change.
On Saturday, September 26, last term's runners-up Exeter Chiefs welcome Gloucester Rugby to Sandy Park in an early west country affair, while Sale Sharks take on Bristol Bears.
On Sunday, September 27, Leicester Tigers face Saracens in a battle between two sides who have won 17 titles between them.

Aside from the opening weekend, there is, of course, another weekend that is always one that captures the eye and that is derby weekend.
The first of those this season will take place in round five on the weekend of October 23.
Gloucester welcome Bath to Kingsholm on the Friday night in a game that is always eagerly anticipated, while Newcastle and Sale Sharks also do battle in a fixture with some northern flavour to it.
On the Saturday, the East Midlands derby between Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints will take place at Mattioli Woods Welford Road in another fixture that promises to entertain.
Speaking of entertainers, Bristol Bears host Exeter Chiefs in the other Saturday match at Ashton Gate.
And to wrap up the opening derby weekend of the season, Harlequins welcome bitter rivals Saracens to Twickenham Stoop in a fixture that always seems to provide top quality entertainment.

One of the most special times of the season is the festive period, with the Gallagher PREM providing three weeks of entertainment consecutively in the weeks around Christmas and New Year.
And of course in that run of games, there is arguably no fixture that stands out more than the annual Big Game.
This year, that is set to take place on Monday, December 28, with Harlequins hosting Northampton Saints at Allianz Stadium.
And over the weekend before Christmas, Saints take on Exeter Chiefs in a repeat of last year's final at Franklin's Gardens.
Then, on New Year's Day, Gloucester Rugby host Bristol Bears at Kingsholm in a West Country battle that should open up the new calendar year in style.
