Hettich's point tally of 262.5 put him ahead of Lande, with Finland's Jaakko Tallus and Frenchman Jason Lamy Chappuis tied in third place.
Gold medal favourite Hannu Manninen finished the jumping section in eighth place on 280 points, two seconds ahead of Norwegian Magnus Moan, who is widely regarded as one of the few men capable of competing with the Finn in the cross-country.
Manninen will start 1 minute and 38 seconds behind Hettich in the 15-km cross country race.
"I have a very good chance now," said the Finn. "I will start my skiing not so fast because of the high altitude ... I'll just try to concentrate on my own skiing in the first few kilometres and then go forward from there."
