England boosted their chances of qualifying for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games semi-finals with a 94-32 triumph over Tonga.

The dominant victory featured the most goals the Roses have scored during a single Commonwealth Games match, surpassing the previous record of 89 set against Sri Lanka in 2002.

Tonga came into the match with confidence after beating Northern Ireland in their previous outing, a historic first tournament win for the nation in netball.

However, the Roses were looking to boost their points average in the group table and led 27-8 after the opening quarter.

Sasha Glasgow and Eleanor Cardwell led the England onslaught as they sailed out of sight early in the match.

Despite rotating their squad, England continued in a determined fashion as Olivia Tchine and Ella Clark also played attacking roles.

The Roses led by 31 points at half-time before Tonga changed tactics with Uneeq Palavi and Lavinia Lavea providing a physical attack.

However, England stood up to the test with Halimat Adio, Funmi Fadoju and Jayda Pechova all playing defensive roles.

Buoyed by their coach Anna Stembridge, the home nation added 25 points to their tally in the final quarter to record a record 94 goals.

England expect a tough test tomorrow against Jamaica (11:00 BST) in a match that could decide the second qualification spot.

England hit stride in clinical quarter

Q1 - England 27-8 Tonga

An almost perfect quarter of netball for the Roses who have been dominant across the court. The speed in which they’ve moved the ball has been too much for Tonga.

Defensively the Roses have also been excellent and won the ball back. Cardwell has shown her strength as goal shooter and her opposition has had no answer.

Watch: Umpire halts game in bizarre moment

There was a bizarre disruption to the Pool B netball match between Jamaica and Uganda as an umpire was forced to step off the court and stop the clock at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The incident occurred just a couple of minutes into Q4 after Jamaica had moved 45-40 ahead at the Hydro.

As players returned for the game to restart with the centre pass, umpire Gary Burgess blew his whistle, drawing confused looks from the two sides.

He then ran over to the official on the other side of the court and explained the situation.
