MARQUEZ BACK ON TOP ON HOME SOIL LEADING AN ALL-DUCATI PODIUM
The seven-time world champion stood on the podium once again in front of his home crowd at the Circuit de Jerez, winning the sprint race despite crashing during the race.
He was able to find his way back to the podium after his crash, crossing the grass and swapping his bike for wet tyres, then climbing back up to the front of the pack.
Marquez was followed by his teammate, Francesco Bagnaia, who scored his first podium of the season after enduring a very difficult start to the weekend. He was able to climb up from 10th place to second.
Franco Morbidelli also grabbed his first podium of the campaign with a miraculous jump from 18th on the starting grid to third.
Rain played a huge factor in the sprint today, with the championship leader, Marco Bezzecchi, failing to finish the race, though he retains his lead in the riders' standings.

MARQUEZ: 'I CRASHED IN THE BEST CORNER'
Marc Marquez converted his pole to yet another win, despite crashing during the race, and led another Ducati podium.
Marquez said: "I mean it's the first victory with a crash. It's true that I crashed in the best corner, in the best moment.
"Because it's true about that lap, I was thinking to go in, but then Alex was in the race, and he stayed out, and I made the mistake to follow him.
"I don't know, somebody today gave me that extra luck that I crashed on that last corner.
"I just waited for everybody to pass, and then I knew that was the only chance to put the rain tyres on that lap.
"Immediately I passed the main straight and then I was p3, and then I pushed. I am so happy with this victory."

BAGNAIA: 'THE GAMBLE WAS ON POINT'
It was an incredibly lucky race for Francesco Bagnaia, who was in the right place at the right time. The rainy conditions caught out a lot of riders, but Bagnaia went for an early pit visit and managed to secure a P2 finish in the race.
Bagnaia said: "As soon as I saw on the grid that it started raining, I said, 'Maybe I need to go with the medium visor,' because we never know.
"Then it started to rain. I just took some laps to understand the conditions and decide, okay, go in, and then what will happen?
"Then I tried to follow Marc, but I saw that the rain and it was starting to rain very heavy, but I wanted to finish the race.
"Especially today, and after the crash yesterday and this morning. So great for us. So thanks to the team for their job. And today the gamble was on point. So happy."

MORBIDELLI: 'I DEDICATE THIS TO PEOPLE WHO ARE SUFFERING'
Franco Morbidelli was able to make a brilliant comeback from 18th place and land a spot on the podium.
Morbidelli said: "Crazy race, I was there behind the whole group, and crazy things happened, and yeah, I had the luck to go to the pit box earlier than everybody.
"I followed Pecco, and this amazing result came. I want to dedicate this result to the people who are suffering, who are thinking that they have no chance, who are thinking that they are worse than everybody.
"My thoughts are with them. I think about them, and I dedicate this kind of podium to them.
" 'He has no chance, he cannot make the results. He has no speed, he has no whatever.'
"And here we are. I'm really pleased. I think everybody inside the team, and I dedicate this podium to the people who are suffering."

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?
Marc Marquez crashed out of the race after leading it, and was able to sneak into the pitlane to swap for a new bike with wet tyres. He then rejoined the race, and watched a handful of riders, including his brother, crash out of the race while in the lead. Marquez managed to regain the lead of the race by jumping his teammate, and win.
What a thrilling sprint race in Jerez. It looks like Marc can keep this win, as he has not seemed to do anything wrong but you never really know in MotoGP...

MARQUEZ WINS ON HOME SOIL
Marc Marquez wins the Grand Prix Spain sprint race around a soaking wet Circuit de Jerez, bringing a huge cheer from his home crowd. It is a 1-2 finish for the Factory Ducati team with Francesco Bagnaia coming home in second place, and Franco Morbidelli securing a third-place finish for VR46.

MARC BACK IN FRONT
This is the busiest pitlane in Jerez in years! Riders have swapped their bikes with slick tyres for ones with wet tyres, but there are still a number of riders slipping and sliding in Jerez. Somehow Marc Marquez has regained the lead of the race, having swapped his bike for one with wet tyres.
He led the way for the rest of the pack to come in and swap, and leads his teammate around the circuit. Marc managed to snatch the position with an aggressive move around his teammate for the lead, with chaos unfolding behind. Francesco Bagnaia currently sits in second place, with the two VR46 riders filling in third and fourth.

CRASHES LEFT RIGHT AND CENTRE - IT'S POURING!
Alex Marquez has set his sights on the top step of the podium, slotting in right behind his brother who leads the race. Marc Marquez is the slower of the two, with Alex lapping 0.2s quicker than his brother.
The Gresini rider was able to take the lead, going around the outside of Marc as he left the door wide open for his brother. They seem to be playing it quite safe, as conditions on track are starting to dampen in this rain.
It is no longer a light drizzle, and it has started to chuck down, causing two riders to crash out in the race. At first, it was Toprak Razgatlioglu, and then it was Marc Marquez.
Marc Marquez ran wide into the gravel, but was able to jump back on his bike and head to the pits for a new bike. His brother followed suit in Sector 3, and immediately headed to the pits for a new bike.

KTM ON ZARCO, RAIN NOT TOO HEAVY
The KTM riders are looking feisty as we get to the halfway point of the race, with Pedro Acosta scrapping it out with Fabio Di Giannantonio for a potential position on the podium. His teammate, Brad Binder, was stuck behind his fellow KTM rider, Enea Bastianiani, as the duo couldn't seem to get past Raul Fernandez.
At the front of the pack, Alex Marquez was able to snatch second place from Johann Zarco, and slot in right behind his brother. Marc managed to create a 0.5s gap to his brother, but Alex looked to be the quicker Marquez on track.
Unfortunately for Aprilia, Marco Bezzecchi was struggling down in 15th place, and there are no other Aprilia riders in the top 15.
A battle between the KTM trio has unfolded, with Johann Zarco being sandwiched in between them. He has the challenge of holding off all three of them, as they seem to tag team and snatch his fifth place.

IT'S RAINING... WHO WILL STAY OUT?
Alex Marquez was able to climb two places in the early stages of the race, initially battling with Jorge Martin for a position on the podium before Martin ran wide on Lap 2. He dropped to fifth for a moment, before climbing back up and snatching third place from Marquez.
Meanwhile, Marc Marquez looked cosy in the front while his brother fought with his former championship rival. Johann Zarco has managed to hold on to second place, but Alex Marquez was looking incredible.
White flags have been waved, which means that riders are allowed to swap their bikes as rain has started to fall.

MARQUEZ SHOOTS OFF WHILE BEZZECCHI DROPS
Polesitter Marc Marquez got off to a blisteringly quick start, launching off the line to block Johann Zarco from making a move on him.
The championship leader, Marco Bezzecchi, spun on the start and found himself dropping down the field. He was overtaken by his teammate, Jorge Martin, who gained three places on the start.
There have been some spots of rain in the opening stages of the race, and it looks like it will start to spit in the next few minutes.

WHO COMES OUT ON TOP? MARQUEZ OR BEZZECCHI?
Marc Marquez may be a seven-time world champion, but this season, Marco Bezzecchi has been in excellent form. The Italian rider has won five races in a row, including three sprint races. He has led every Grand Prix lap so far this season, and holds a healthy lead at the top of the Riders’ Standings.
Marquez has yet to score a podium finish during a Grand Prix, and will be eager to convert this pole into a victory on home soil. While this may be a Sprint Race, he will have a great idea of how his Ducati will perform across the weekend.
Can Marquez keep him behind?

HOW THE LAST RACE WENT
Marco Bezzecchi bounced back from his Sprint race crash to claim a dominant victory in the MotoGP Grand Prix race in Austin, Texas.

IS OGURA JUMPING SHIP?
It was reported a few days ago that Ai Ogura is set to replace Alex Rins at Yamaha next season. The young Japanese rider will partner with Jorge Martin, as the team looks to get an edge on a new bike.
This deal has taken us all by shock, with Ogura leaving Trackhouse on what looks like a whim. His signing is a slap in the face for Honda, which supported the 25-year-old throughout his junior career.
What led to this, exactly? We do not know, but this could be a sign that Honda is falling behind in development.

JEREZ: A CIRCUIT FOR LEGENDS
Circuito de Jerez has an extremely rich racing history, with legendary riders soaking up glory under the Spanish sun. The track is situated in a serene valley in a southern sherry-making region. South of Seville, the remote circuit boasts prime racing conditions almost all year round. The weather is consistently sunny and warm for most of the year, making it a great race for a range of motorsports.
Spanish engineer Manuel Medina Lara was the mastermind behind this 13-corner track, which has been modified twice since its construction in 1985. Jerez was initially a 15-corner circuit before two corners were dropped in 1992. The layout has remained the same since 1994, with two alternative road circuits.
The motorcycle Grand Prix circuit is 4.424km with 13 corners and two long straights. Although it was resurfaced 20 years ago, the circuit is tricky for riders as it boasts a mixture of fast corners and direction changes. Riders must work very hard to maintain stability in the high-acceleration straights and hard braking zones.
