‘Of course I’d like a factory bike’ – Marc Marquez outlines ambitions ahead of Spanish GP

Marc Marquez has admitted that he would like to have a factory bike for next year’s MotoGP season as the Gresini rider looks ahead to the future.
The six-time champion, who is riding on Ducati after 13 years with Honda, has been candid when often asked about his future so far this season, previously saying that “all doors are open.”

‘Don’t poke the bear’ – Marc Marquez powers past Bagnaia in ruthless overtake

Talking about his future ahead of the Spanish GP this weekend, Marquez said: “At the moment I have nothing clear. Of course I would like a factory bike.
“My work is to try to do 100% to have a factory bike for next year. Let’s see. I don’t have contact with anyone, I just want to do the best and if you are fast on the racetrack you will have more options to choose.
“Of course around Jerez, then Le Mans and Mugello there will start some contacts, this is true. But at the moment I have some margin on the racetrack to keep going.”
The veteran was tipped by many to add an eighth Americas GP win to his tally after coming into the last race third on the qualifying grid. He took the lead on lap 11, carving past Pedro Acosta before Marquez crashed out moments later due to an issue with the front brake.
“In the end, the crash was my fault. Because if you have a problem you need to understand sometimes you have a problem, and try to prevent. But it’s a little bit unpredictable it know when I will have those problems.”
“The team is working a lot, super hard with Ducati to see what we can do for the future to not have these problems again. But one of the first things is just to try change the front lever.
“But I am here to learn things, and now we need to clean all these small mistakes to be more constant on those top positions.”
Looking ahead to the Spanish GP and the Jerez circuit this weekend, Marquez commented on if he plans to receive any upgrades from Ducati for the weekend.
“What I know is that I have a few tests to try for my riding style. The front brake we will concentrate a bit more on to try to answer because doing the GPs, it’s difficult.
“If Ducati will bring something I don’t know. I’m just focused on myself and my bike. They will let me know.”
