MARVELLOUS MARQUEZ TAKES WIN NO. 99
Marc Marquez edged closer to a century of Grand Prix race wins as he claimed victory at Grand Prix San Marino at Misano.
Marquez caught and passed polesitter and early race leader Marco Bezzecchi, and held off the charging Aprilia racer to secure the victory to further tighten his grip on the 2025 MotoGP championship.
Bezzecchi completed a hugely successful race weekend with his second-place finish adding to his pole position and Sprint race victory earlier this weekend, while in third, Alex Marquez completed a relatively lonely ride to seal the final step on the podium.
The race began with Bezzecchi making a perfect start from pole position, while Marc, starting from the second round, charged through and dived up the inside of his brother Alex to claim second place in Turn 1.
After his initial attempts to pass Bezzecchi failed, Marc settled into second place and managed his pace through the first 10 laps, then, on Lap 12, was in position to take advantage when Bezzecchi ran wide in Turn 8.
Once Marquez hit the front, he was never passed as he maintained his gap and held off a flying Bezzecchi in the closing laps to seal Grand Prix win No. 99.

MARQUEZ ON 2025 CHAMPIONSHIP: 'IT'S A MATTER OF TIME'
Marquez's win in Misano means he's within touching distance of his seventh MotoGP world title. But, as he told TNT Sports' Rachel Stringer, he's not getting ahead of himself, and will just keep his usual energy as he looks to finish the season strongly.
"Yeah, in the same way as always," he said.
"It's true that the main goal is getting closer and closer. It's a matter of time. It's a matter of keep(ing) the same level. But there's still five races to go, so we need to keep going.
"But, of course, the main goal is to try to close the championship as soon as possible."

LAVERTY: 'THAT WAS TWO ATHLETES AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME'
TNT Sports pundit Michael Laverty hailed both Marquez and Bezzecchi as the pair battled all the way to the finish as they both rode to the limit in the closing laps at Misano.
Despite Bezzecchi attempting to pile on the pressure in the closing laps, Marquez found the pace when he needed it to hold off Bezzecchi's charge and claim the victory.
"He didn't look like a rider under pressure," said Laverty of Marquez.
"The way he rode today, (he) controlled (and) answered everything that Bezzecchi threw at him.
"When Bezzecchi set that lap record with three (or) four laps to go, Marc could respond every time."
Laverty also praised both men for their performance in the closing laps, as they swapped fastest laps in a fascinating finale.
"That was two athletes at the very top of their game, who went into the red zone for pretty much 75 percent of that race," he said.
"They maybe settled into those early laps, but then they pushed. They hit every apex. One mistake from Bezzecchi, and that was the race changed, because they hit every single marker, hitting those lap times at the end of the race. It was such a display."

MARQUEZ 'GAVE EVERYTHING' TO SECURE MISANO VICTORY
Marquez's 99th Grand Prix victory was anything but easy for the six-time world champion as he was forced to ride to the limit to fend off Bezzecchi's late charge and secure the win.
"Today I gave everything, everything I had," he told TNT Sports in parc ferme after his victory.
"I let the mistake from yesterday give me extra concentration, extra power, extra energy. And, yeah, I was just there following him, trying to push him, always super close, because I say it's impossible to do 27 laps without any mistake.
"In the end, he did a small mistake at Turn 8, and then I led the race.
"In some laps, I struggled a bit, but then I just regained a bit the feeling.
"(It was) super important for Ducati. I felt the pressure this weekend that, for them, it was super important we win both Italian GPs – in Mugello, and here. We did it, so I'm happy for all of Ducati."

BEZZECCHI PROUD AFTER 'BEST RACE'
He might not have claimed the win, but Bezzecchi was happy with his performance after a brilliant ride saw him push Marc Marquez to the limit en route to a second-place finish at Misano.
"I think that, besides the victory, this is maybe the best race of my life," he told TNT Sports in parc ferme.
"Because I was super competitive all the weekend – pole position, Sprint win, second place, but close to Marc, who is at the moment the strongest on the grid.
"I'm very happy I gave my whole (effort). I'm destroyed to try to give the fans the best show that I could.
"I want to say thanks to them for the support. They've been amazing for me, and hopefully you enjoyed. Thanks to everyone."

MARQUEZ WINS IN MISANO!
Marc Marquez was pushed to the limit, but he held off a charging Bezzecchi to claim the win at Misano.
Bezzecchi rode a brilliant race, but he'll look back and rue the moment he ran wide to give Marquez the lead. And, once the Ducati man hit the front, he wasn't headed as he held off "Bez" to seal the race win – his 99th in Grand Prix racing.

MARQUEZ RESPONDS WITH A BLISTERING LAP!
With Bezzecchi closing in, Marquez has banged in an incredible lap to put a quarter of a second into his lead, and that could prove crucial.
Bezzecchi is riding out of his leathers trying to close the gap, but Marquez is a six-time world champ for a reason, and he's making sure he keeps that half-second gap intact.
Bezzecchi is pulling the pin and going for it as we head into the last lap...

'IT COULD BE WIN OR CRASH!'
TNT Sports pundit and former World Superbike Champion Neil Hodgson thinks Bezzecchi could still be in with a shout here.
The Aprilia ace is closing in on Marquez with just four laps to go, and Hodgy thinks he'll do absolutely everything to steal the race win away from Marquez.
We could be in for a grandstand finish at Misano!

MARQUEZ TURNS THE SCREW
Marc Marquez is putting everything into it as he tries to pull clear of Bezzecchi, and has just registered the fastest lap of the race. However, Bezzecchi is still very much in touch, just under half a second behind. And, if anything, he might be clawing back a little bit of that deficit.
It's going to take something special from Bezzecchi to close that gap. And then, if he does, he's got the massive task of finding a way past Marquez.

ON THE LIMIT
Marc Marquez is doing everything he can to break away from Bezzecchi, but the Aprilia man is matching the six-time world champion, lap for lap. Both men have had warnings for track limits violations, so need to be wary to avoid the green-painted areas on the circuit. If you make five violations during a race, you're hit with a long-lap penalty.

MARQUEZ'S MISANO MOMENT
Here's how Marc Marquez took the lead of Grand Prix San Marino, as he took advantage of Bezzecchi going wide to move up the inside and hit the front at Misano.

HERE COMES BEZZECCHI!
We asked the question, and it seems we have the answer. Bezzecchi is FAR from done here.
With Marquez seemingly struggling for front grip, the Aprilia man has closed right in on the race leader, and the tables have turned.
After Marquez stalked Bezzecchi in the early portion of the race, now Bezzecchi is sitting behind Marquez.
Can he find a way past?

BIG TEST FOR BEZ
It's been a brilliant weekend so far for Bezzecchi. He qualified on pole, then won the Sprint race. But now, after leading the first third of the Grand Prix, his mistake means he's sitting in second behind Marc Marquez.
Can the Aprilia man hang on to the back of Marquez's Ducati and give himself a chance to challenge later in the race, or will Marquez do another of his famous disappearing acts and ride off into the San Marino sunset?

BEZZECCHI SUCCUMBS TO THE PRESSURE!
Marc Marquez has been stalking Bezzecchi for the past half-dozen laps, and eventually that pressure paid off as Bezzecchi went wide, gifting Marquez the lead of the Grand Prix.
Further down the field, Enea Bastianini has gone off and is out of the race. Johann Zarco has also been off, but is back in the race and looking to salvage something from his afternoon. He's running 17th and last.

ACOSTA OUT! BAGNAIA OUT!
Pedro Acosta's promising start has come to a frustrating end as his KTM lost its chain, forcing him out of the Grand Prix.
Elsewhere, Francesco Bagnaia is also out, with the Ducati man losing the front end and sliding apologetically into the gravel.
Meanwhile, a piece of flapping bodywork on Bezzecchi's Aprilia has flown off the bike. That should ease some concerns over the leader's bike.

FRONT THREE BREAK CLEAR
The pace is hotting up out front as Bezzecchi looks to shake off the Marquez boys. They're more than a second and a half clear of the battle for fourth. Everyone out front is on the same rubber, with all of the front-runners running medium compound tyres on their respective machines.
