FERNANDEZ LEADS A TRACKHOUSE ONE-TWO FINISH IN A BRILLIANT ASSEN OUTING FOR APRILIA
It was a great day for Aprilia with four riders finishing in the top five, but it was an even better day for their satellite team.
Raul Fernandez claimed his second Sprint victory of the season, leading a Trackhouse one-two finish for the very first time, after a thrilling Sprint race that saw him scrap it out with Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi.
His teammate, Ai Ogura, brought it home in second place and is closing in on Marc Marquez in the riders' standings.
Fabio Di Giannantonio managed to score a place on the podium, gaining three positions to sit in third place as the only Ducati rider in the top five.
There was some last-lap drama that saw Francesco Bagnaia lose his sixth-place position to his teammate Marc Marquez, as the two-time world champion exceeded track limits in the closing stages of the race.

FERNANDEZ: 'I WAS AT MY LIMIT'
Raul Fernandez has scored his second Sprint victory of the season with a win in Assen this afternoon.
Fernandez said: "I am very happy. This is the second spring victory that I got this year.
"Last year we did not believe a lot in our performance during the Sprints, but I think we found something.
"We are quite strong, so it is amazing for me, but also for the team, because it's the first time that they are getting a 1-2, so very happy.
"The race was quite nice, but I know that I was fast in the last part of the race.
"To be honest, I was at my limit, and Ai had more pace, so we will see."

OGURA: 'WE KNOW WHAT TO IMPROVE FOR TOMORROW'
The young rider, Ai Ogura, has been very consistent this season, scoring back-to-back podiums today around Assen with a second-place finish in the Sprint.
Ogura said: "It's the first one, two for the team, so I'm really happy for my people.
In general, the race was really nice, but it is a shame that I lost a couple of positions in the first two or three laps.
"We know what to improve for tomorrow, so we'll see, but it was a good race anyway."

DI GIANNANTONIO: 'THE APRILIAS ARE AMAZING'
Fabio Di Giannantonio brought it home in third place for VR46 while his teammate, Franco Morbidelli, crashed out of the race on the final lap.
The VR46 rider said: "We know that here the Aprilia bikes are doing an amazing job, they are so fast.
"So at the moment we are trying to minimise the damage, so the focus was to start well and try to be with them at the beginning.
"At one point, I thought, okay, maybe I have a chance to win the race, but then suddenly I was quite on the limit with both tyres, so I kept the position.
"For sure, it's an amazing result at the moment."

RAUL FERNANDEZ WINS THE SPRINT RACE
Raul Fernandez wins the Sprint race around Assen, making it a Trackhouse 1-2 as Ai Ogura brings it home in second place ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio.

POTENTIAL 1-2 FOR TRACKHOUSE LOOMING
Ai Ogura pulled off a speedy overtake on Fabio Di Giannantonio, moving up to second place in the final four laps to make it a potential Trackhouse 1-2. He could potentially claim the victory today, but Raul Fernandez looks very comfortable in the lead.
The line-up, as it stands, looks like duos are sitting one after the other. The factory Aprilia duo runs in fourth and fifth on Lap 11, Ducati duo in sixth and seventh, and the KTMs are in eighth and ninth place.
It has been a brilliant day for Aprilia, but especially Trackhouse, having performed far better than the factory team. But the battle behind for fifth place has been reignited with Francesco Bagnaia looking for a way around the Aprilia duo.
Franco Morbidelli spun out of the race at Turn 4, showing a real struggle for the VR46 rider.

OGURA IS ON THE WAY
A battle for fifth place has ignited between the Ducati duo, with Francesco Bagnaia hoping to steal his position back from Marc Marquez. The two-time world champion managed to jump his teammate and set his sights on Marco Bezzecchi, taking the fight directly to his new team.
Marquez has struggled all weekend with his shoulder injury, despite his win at the last race, opting for an easier strategy this weekend and hopes to grab some points rather than fight for the victory.
At the front of the pack, Raul Fernandez leads the way, but his teammate is the star of the show. Ai Ogura is firmly in the battle for the victory, and sits in fifth place in the Riders' Standings. The young rider has cemented himself as a force to be reckoned with, close to overtaking Fabio Di Giannantonio for second place.

APRILIA LOOK AS STRONG AS EVER
The Aprilia pack has riled up the fans with brilliant overtakes on their teammates. While the factory Aprilia riders seem to struggle with the conditions, the Trackhouse riders have flown past. On Lap 5, Raul Fernandez lead the way with Fabio Di Giannantonio sandwiched himself between the Trackhouse duo.
However, Ai Ogura, running in third, did find himself under pressure from Jorge Martin, but pushed hard to set the fastest lap of the race on Lap 6.
Three satellite bikes lead the way, while the factory riders began to pick up the pace behind.

FERNANDEZ SNATCHES THE LEAD FROM MARTIN
Marco Bezzecchi managed to overtake Fabio Di Giannantonio for fourth place, before dropping two positions by the third lap. The Aprilia rider had a very controversial last race which saw him miss the Czechia Grand Prix, so he has a lot of work to do to make up the points he lost.
Meanwhile, Marc Marquez was able to claw his sixth place back from his teammate, going side by side with his teammate, and forcing him to run wide. Marquez looks to build on his brilliant victory in the last round.
At the front of the pack, Raul Fernandez pulled off a smooth overtake on Jorge Martin for the lead. Martin had a slight wobble in the second sector, and dropped to fourth place.

MARTIN LEADS THE WAY
The polesitter Jorge Martin got off to a decent start, but Ai Ogura got off to a better one. The Japanese rider managed to shoot off the line and overtake Martin before the first corner, but the world champion was able to snatch the lead back around the third corner.
Aprilia lead the way, but the Ducati duo of Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez are very close behind the pack. Bagnaia managed to overtake his teammate for fifth place, setting his sights on Fabio Di Giannantonio ahead.

BAGNAIA SWITCHES TO APRILIA
After a notoriously tricky time at the factory Ducati team, Francesco Bagnaia has decided to leave Ducati to join Aprilia. He will be replacing Jorge Martin at Aprilia in 2027, for the start of MotoGP’s 850cc era.
Bagnaia is set to partner with Marco Bezzecchi in an all-Italian line-up for the Italian manufacturer. He will be replaced by Pedro Acosta next year, with the KTM rider set to partner Marc Marquez.

HODGSON COLUMN: MARQUEZ IS MESSI AND BEZZECCHI IS FEELING THE PRESSURE
TNT Sports MotoGP pundit writes in his weekly column that Marco Bezzecchi is clearly feeling the pressure ahead of Grand Prix Netherlands this weekend.
Hodgson pointed out that Marc Marquez's looming presence in the title race will cause problems for everyone.

HOW THE LAST RACE WENT
Marc Marquez emerged as the victor of the Grand Prix Czechia, battling the polesitter Ai Ogura for the win. He claimed back-to-back Grand Prix wins following his victory in Hungary, moving within 40 points of the championship leader Marco Bezzecchi.
Ogura brought it home in second place for Trackhouse, while Francesco Bagnaia secured a position on the podium for Ducati. It was not so ideal for Bezzecchi, who had to sit out of the race after his altercation with a marshal during the Sprint race.

WHY IS ASSEN SO ICONIC?
Assen was first used in 1925 for the Dutch TT race, initially as a street track. By the 1950s, the TT Circuit Assen found its modern form as a carefully crafted track. Purpose-built sections were added to link existing roads to the permanent circuit, and the classic TT course was set for the next 20 years.
The last 50 years have seen major developments in the circuit. The northern loop was cut in half to make the circuit shorter, and Assen was made a fully closed course. After a near-full redesign in 2006, the face of Assen was radically different to its ancestor. The modern circuit is one of the most visited motorcycle tracks in the world and sits alongside Le Mans and Indianapolis as one of the most prestigious races in motorcycle history.
