Rookie Fermin Aldeguer leaves Neil Hodgson 'speechless' after 'incredible' win in Grand Prix Indonesia - 'He will have dreamt about it'

Neil Hodgson struggled to find the words for BK8 Gresini rider Fermin Aldeguer's performance at the Grand Prix of Indonesia on Sunday. The 20-year-old Spaniard became the second-youngest winner of a MotoGP, a record currently held by world champion Marc Marquez. Hodgson also had praise for KTM rider Pedro Acosta, with the 21-year-old also impressing as he took second place.

Neil Hodgson said he was "speechless" in the face of rookie Fermin Aldeguer’s first MotoGP win on Sunday at Grand Prix Indonesia.
The BK8 Gresini rider was aggressive throughout and, once he was ahead, withstood the pressure that comes with leading a race to build an insurmountable gap as the pack behind him fought amongst themselves for the remaining positions.
Aldeguer had come close to a double in Indonesia as he led the Sprint on Saturday only to see Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi usurp him with less than half the final lap to go.
The 20-year-old has been one of the most impressive young riders this season, along with KTM's Pedro Acosta, who finished in second place on Sunday, with BK8 Gresini’s other rider, Alex Marquez, in third spot on the podium.
For Aldeguer it could potentially herald a step up in his career, as he became the second-youngest rider to ever win a MotoGP, only beaten to the record by current world champion Marc Marquez. It was his first victory in the class, and took just 18 races for him to reach the milestone.
Speaking on TNT Sports after the race, Hodgson said it was difficult to find sufficient praise for the Spaniard after the achievement.
He said: "I'm speechless, in fact. No one got near him and if you look at the other Ducati riders, everyone struggled this weekend.
"His experienced team-mate had nothing for him. I bet he's absolutely exhausted as well.
"Incredible... It was a third of a lap away from being a double."
Hodgson then observed Aldeguer unzipping his leathers and suggested that the rider had become overwhelmed by the track temperature and the enormity of the occasion.
He added: "He’s starting to panic, you feel your core temperature, you start to feel nauseous. Wow. He won't believe it. He will have dreamt about it.
"What a feeling. Oh, to be 20 years old, eh? Just like yesterday!"
Hodgson also had words of praise for another youngster, 21-year-old KTM rider Acosta.
"He just rode the absolute wheels off the KTM," he said. "There's a fight in Pedro that is so impressive to watch."
Attention will now turn to the upcoming round in Australia, which could be a more open race and allow Aldeguer to challenge again.

Jorge Martin had already been confirmed as an absentee, but Marc Marquez could also miss the weekend.
The Ducati Lenovo rider has a suspected broken right collarbone, and if he requires surgery, that could keep him out for several weeks.
Marquez will travel to Madrid for further investigation, his team confirmed on Sunday.
