2025 MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez remains unsure if he can mount a committed title challenge after the summer break, despite the Ducati Lenovo rider winning a double at Grand Prix Germany this weekend.

After securing victory in the Sprint on Saturday, the 33-year-old Spaniard completed a double for the weekend on Sunday as he led from the front in the Grand Prix at Sachsenring.
The anticlockwise course suited Marquez, and his 37-point haul - the maximum available for the weekend - moved him into third place in the world championship, within 18 points of Aprilia’s Jorge Martin, who goes into a three-week break at the top of the pile.
Martin’s team-mate Marco Bezzecchi did not compete after another heavy crash, this time in qualifying, and Fabio Di Giannantonio did not finish the race on his VR46 bike, meaning Marquez was able to eat into the lead of those above him.
A fifth-placed finish kept Martin top, and Trackhouse’s Ai Ogura came in second to move 14 behind the former world champion.
After Grand Prix Italy at Mugello, Marquez trailed by 102 points, but he appears to be rapidly improving after shoulder surgery, and has wins now in Germany, Czechia and Hungary.

However, Marquez is not yet sure of his full capabilities.
”I don’t understand anything. I said already in the last race,” Marquez said after his latest win.
”But we are trying to attack where I feel OK and trying to survive when we have difficult tracks.
”It’s true that if we want to fight for the championship, I need to improve some points - the right arm. It’s the only point I need to improve.
”So, this summer break, I will take a rest of course, because on the mental side, I need it.
”But I need to work very hard on the right arm, especially on the weak points, because there are some points where I’m just riding the bike; I’m on the bike, but I cannot play with my body.
"So, it’s there where I want to work.”
The Grand Prix Britain weekend begins on Friday, August 7, affording Marquez the best part of a month to rest and heal his shoulder, and he said he would aim to be ready for a full tilt at the title when the action restarts.
He continued: ”I keep saying the same: if I can do a step this summer break on my arm, which I don’t know if I can do or not.

”But I will try to work hard just to wake up some muscles that are sleeping.
”And from that point, if we can do it, then we can try to fight for the championship in this second part of the season.
”If not, try to understand what we can do every weekend.”
