Sylvain Guintoli, Michael Laverty hail ‘unstoppable’ Marc Marquez after Grand Prix Czechia double - 'He is absolutely smashing everyone'

Marc Marquez heads into the MotoGP summer break having amassed a 120-point lead over his nearest rival, his younger brother Alex Marquez. With a month before the next race weekend, Sylvain Guintoli and Michael Laverty heaped praise on the six-time world champion, and the dominant manner in which he has rocketed above his rivals in the championship standings.

Sylvain Guintoli lauded Marc Marquez’s performance at Grand Prix Czechia but believes he is now a "target" for other riders and manufacturers.
Ducati Lenovo rider Marquez battled with Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia) for much of the race but was ultimately successful, and once he nudged in front of the Italian, he rarely looked troubled.
The six-time world champion has now built a 120-point lead over his nearest rival, his brother Alex Marquez of BK8 Gresini, who crashed out early on in Brno.
His Ducati Lenovo team-mate Francesco Bagnaia could only finish in fourth place, leading TNT Sports pundit Neil Hodgson to say he would have to "forget" any hope of clinching a third world title this season.
Speaking after the win, Guintoli said Marquez’s success was now expected, given he secured a record fifth consecutive weekend double of the season, as well as his eighth for the campaign overall.
However, with the MotoGP season now heading into its summer break, Guintoli suggested that there are signs that there will be some riders and manufacturers offering a greater challenge come the second half of the championship.

He said: "Even though he makes the racing a little bit predictable, you’ve got to respect the performance, the man and the athlete.
"This year he has done amazingly. He is proving a really tough opponent for everyone else.
"But he’s also a good target for the other ones on their summer break, thinking about things, the other manufacturers trying to catch up.
"We started the year thinking this is going to be another Ducati Cup, and it’s not the case. It’s Marc that’s making the difference.
"We’ve seen Aprilia come in, KTM come in now, even the Japanese manufacturers are making some good steps now, so there's a lot of interesting movement within the championship, but Marc is dominating, and it looks like he'll be a really tough nut to crack."

'He knows how to break everyone's spirit'

Michael Laverty was more emphatic in his analysis, saying that Marquez was able to use his superiority not to just win races, but damage the morale of those looking to compete.
"He is so focused," Laverty said. "He will be on a boat or a beach, then he will come back and train the fortnight up to Austria, and then go at the last 10 races.
"He's been unstoppable of late. He started the season strong and then has gotten even better. He can control every outcome for any challenge.
"He knows how to break everyone's spirit, and right now he is absolutely smashing everyone."
