DI GIANNANTIONIO RECOVERS FROM CRASH TO WIN CHAOTIC GRAND PRIX
Fabio Di Giannantonio recovered from a dramatic crash to win the Grand Prix Catalunya, shortened to 12 laps after two red flags.
The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team was hit by Alex Marquez’s flying bike during a horrific mid-race crash which resulted in a red flag and the Sprint race winner being taken to hospital.
The crash resulted in the race being shortened and, from the re-start, a three-rider crash on the first corner resulted in Johann Zarco being taken to hospital for treatment.

A second re-start was also not short of drama and championship hopeful Jorge Martin saw his race ended after being taken out by Raul Fernandez, when they were both challenging for the lead.

Pole setter Pedro Acosta led for a large portion of the race, but saw his pace drop in the final stages of the race.
The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider defended valiantly until Di Giannantonio made his winning move with two laps remaining.
A chaotic last lap battle for the podium saw Joan Mir come through for second and Fermin Aldeguer third.
Meanwhile, Acosta was taken out in the final corner by Ai Ogura, in a frustrating end for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider.

DI GIANNANTONIO: ‘WE ARE HUMANS, WE ARE IN DANGER’
Fabio Di Giannantonio’s thoughts were with the riders who had crashed, after winning the Grand Prix Catalunya.
He said: ”I’m so happy.
But first of all I was really worried about all the riders who crashed. Today has not been an easy day for everybody.
”I really hope that Alex (Marquez) is fine. We've been really lucky.
”We know that our sport is amazing. We try to give an amazing show, we are humans, we are in danger.
”I really hope that everybody's safe. I'm really happy about myself and the team, they did an amazing job.
”We were looking for it (the win) for a long time, so we must be proud and happy.”

MIR: ‘THEY SHOULD GIVE MORE POINTS FOR THIS’
Joan Mir feels that MotoGP officials should give him more points after he finished second after a chaotic Grand Prix Catalunya.
He said: ”It feels amazing. We've been dreaming for this and working very hard during the first part of the season, but for many crashes.
”Today we could put everything together. I enjoyed a lot of racing, despite two red flags and three starts, it was not an easy one.
”They should give more point for this.”

ALDEGUER: ‘IT HASN’T BEEN AN EASY WEEKEND’
Fermin Aldeguer came through from 15th on the grid and saw team-mate Alex Marquez crash out on his way to second place in the Grand Prix Catalunya.
Aldeguer himself has recovered from a broken femur and returned to the podium in Barcelona.
He said: ”It has been a super difficult start to the season for me and for all my people.
”We are back here in the podium. It wasn’t an easy weekend, because we started from 15th positions, yellow flags for my crash, and all of this was difficult.
”This race is for all my people, also for my team-mate (Marquez). I hope he's okay, I'm super happy.”

TYRE PRESSURE INVESTIGATIONS
The race results are yet to be confirmed as Mir and fourth place Bagnaia are under investigation for tyre pressure regulations.

DI GIANNANTONIO TAKES VICTORY
Di Giannantonio is the quickest rider and wins, Mir is second and Aldeguer third.
The last lap battle for the podium places saw Mir sweep under Acosta and at the same time Aldeguer also passed the KTM rider. Acosta lacked the pace was pushed into fourth.
Acosta’s day was made worse as Ogura wiped him out on the final corner.

It’s a huge moment and a fantastic piece of bike handling as Di Giannantonio finds a gap under Acosta and then forces his way into the lead.

The front three have slowed as they fight for victory. That has allowed Aldeguer and Ogura to join the podium fight.

Despite crashing earlier today Di Giannantonio is challenging for victory. On the medium tyre he passes Mir into second and now has Acosta in his sights.

It’s a ridiculous move down the inside by Fernandez which takes out himself and championship contender Martin.
That has shaken up the podium positions. Mir moves into second and Bagnaia into third.

We are back underway for a 12-lap re-start.
Acosta again gets a good start and is followed closely by Martin.

RED FLAG FROM RESTART
The first corner caused massive issues. The first corner caused massive issues. Bagnaia, Zarco and Marini all collided and ended in the gravel.
Zarco went into the corner too fast and hit the back of Marini, with them collecting Bagnaia.
Martin also had issues getting away, but did manage to join the leading pack.
