ALEX MARQUEZ CLAIMS VICTORY AT GRAND PRIX CATALUNYA AFTER SPRINT DISAPPOINTMENT
BK8 Gresini rider Alex Marquez won the Grand Prix Catalunya ahead of championship leader Marc Marquez and KTM Tech3's Enea Bastianini.
Marc Marquez look the lead from his brother on the opening lap, as Pedro Acosta moved past Fabio Quartararo into third.
But Alex's lead was soon reclaimed as he made a move past Marc on lap four.
Further down the field, Francesco Bagnaia made moves up into ninth, while Luca Marini had a fantastic launch, promoting himself into fifth.
Bastianini closed in on Acosta, and moved past the young Spaniard on lap 11.
Marc remained close on the tail of his younger brother in a relentless chase, as Acosta kept close behind Bastianini.
Acosta began to drop back from Bastianini as Alex settled into the lead, extending the gap to his brother by over a second before crossing the line in first place.
Alex's victory ends Marc's unbeaten streak since Silverstone, and means the elder Marquez is unable to wrap up the title at the upcoming Grand Prix San Marino.

ALEX MARQUEZ: "IT'S SO GOOD"
Alex Marquez celebrated his victory with his brother in front of cheering crowds in classic Marquez style, and was overjoyed with today's result.
"It's so good, I had in my head a little bit the incident from yesterday.
"I pushed, and I was able to make good lap times in that moment.
"Super happy for the team, because in that moment they were always with me pushing, and we're back I think where the team especially deserves."

MARC MARQUEZ: "HE WAS FASTER"
Marc Marquez's winning streak has been ended by his younger brother Alex after the championship leader finished second in Catalunya.
"I did my maximum. I did the perfect race.
"I led the first laps, that was my target to try to understand the grip and to not destroy the front tyre.
"He was faster. I tried to follow him.
"Happy for Alex. Happy for Ducati. Happy for me, because in a difficult circuit we finished second."

ENEA BASTIANINI ON HIS FIRST GP PODIUM WITH KTM
Bastianini started from ninth, and progressed up the order to finish third, his first GP podium with KTM.
"This podium has been very solid for me.
"I tried to give my 100% today.
"I can be really happy. My first podium of the year, and thanks to my team, to my family... and also to all the people at home."

As Alex Marquez makes the final tour around the track, he leads from Marc by over a second.
What a recovery from yesterday's heartbreak.
Marc Marquez's winning streak, which he has held since Silverstone, has come to an end.
This means Marc won't have a chance to clinch the title at the San Marino GP.

BATTLES FURTHER DOWN
Marini has Quartararo right on his tail, as he has half a look past into turn 1.
Ogura makes a move past Bagnaia into the same corner for seventh.
Quartararo makes another move past Marini, this time pulling it off. He's now in fifth.
Ogura gets past Marini for sixth.
Alex Marquez now leads by over a second from his brother.

Four laps to go, and Franco Morbidelli has had a crash into the gravel.
Ai Ogura is right on the back of Bagnaia, as Bagnaia has a swerve. The Italian manages to rescue his bike and hang on through the next corner.
Alex is leading by just under nine tenths of a second.

Luca Savadori has gone down - a bad day for Aprilia as Bezzecchi is also out and Jorge Martin is in 11th currently.
This brings out a yellow flag in sectors three and four.
Marc has closed in again by about two tenths.

There's five laps to go, and Alex Marquez is still holding on. He's opened up the gap to around eight tenths.
Marc went slightly wide at turn 10 which allowed Alex to stretch his lead.

The Marquez brothers are really pushing at the front. Alex to open the gap to his brother, Marc to close it.
Alex is defending well into the braking zones.
Bastianini is around 2.5s away from the leading pair.

Acosta is really dropping back from Bastianini now.
Marini is closing in on the young KTM rider, taking half a second out of Acosta's time this lap.
