Last season's MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin suffered his fourth injury of the season last week at Grand Prix Japan. A displaced fractured right collarbone required surgery in Spain earlier this week. As a result, the Aprilia rider will not be able to take part in Grand Prix Australia, and the rest of his season has been thrown into doubt.

2024 MotoGP world champion Jorge Martin will not be fit in time for Grand Prix Australia after he underwent collarbone surgery.
Martin has endured a tough time in the current season, with the latest absence his fourth injury of the season so far.
He suffered a displaced fractured right collarbone during last Saturday’s Sprint race in Japan at Motegi, colliding with his team-mate Marco Bezzecchi and suffering a heavy crash.
The injury required surgery, which took place earlier this week in Spain, which ruled him out of this weekend’s racing at Grand Prix Indonesia, shown live on TNT Sports and discovery+.
Grand Prix Australia is due to take place at Phillip Island with the action starting on October 17, and Aprilia race manager Paolo Bonora confirmed the Spaniard would not be racing that weekend.
"[It is] a big injury for sure," Bonora said on Friday.

"The surgery was very good. Now we are checking with the doctor the recovery plan to understand when he will come back to the racetrack.
"For sure, I can confirm that in Phillip Island he will not join us, unfortunately. But we don’t know about the [remaining races]. So we have to wait for the medical examination to understand his physical situation day by day.
"Because it was a big, big injury, not a standard collarbone crack; there [were] two places. So it’s necessary to wait. A big hug to Jorge and I want to say that all the team are close to him at the moment."
After Australia, there will be just two more rounds of the season, at Portimao in Portugal, and then Valencia in Spain, and he may even miss a testing session for his team.
The 2025 season then concludes at Portimao and Valencia. Martin is currently in 20th place in the championship standings, with just 34 points earned so far. His team-mate Marco Bezzecchi is currently fourth in the standings, on 242 points, with one MotoGP win and six podium finishes.

It has been a difficult season for Martin after last season’s triumphant victory in the MotoGP World Championship.
His dissatisfaction with the bike led to a dispute with Aprilia, as he was reportedly keen to break his contract after the first year, having been linked with a move to the Honda team.
Ultimately, he declared himself satisfied with the performance of his bike and instead looks set to see out his two-year deal.
Most places amongst the teams for next year appear to have been finalised for the season, giving him little room for manoeuvre.
