Paddy Pimblett continued his rapid rise in the UFC lightweight division by powering his way past King green with an incredible first-round submission win. Michael Bisping and Nick Peet heaped praise on Pimblett after the win and explained how the Liverpudlian silenced his critics. Green had not previously been submitted before in the UFC, but Pimblett achieved that to end the fight in round one.

Nick Peet and Michael Bisping praised Paddy Pimblett for a landmark performance after his brilliant first-round submission win over King Green at UFC 304.
The Liverpudlian became the first man to submit the American in his UFC career - a feat which has only happened twice before, and not since 2009.
“He was outstanding; in the build up I said I really do fancy Paddy to get a submission,” said Peet on UFC Fight Week.
“I actually thought it was going to be later, and I thought he might have to pull something out of the bag. I'm quite happy that I called that one right, but I didn't expect it to come so early. He was right, and he made a statement to the world, to every critic or lightweight that's out there.
“Everybody in the MMA industry was watching this fight to see if this kid is for real. Because yes, he puts bums on seats, yes, he generates a lot of interest and the multi-million pound sponsorship deals and people are bitter about that.
“But can he actually fight at the top level? Can he compete as a contender in this lightweight division? He proved he could, because people don't do that to King Green. People do not submit, choke out, put Bobby Green to sleep in front of the bright lights; he did it, and he did it in style.”

‘Unbelievable’ – Pimblett claims ‘impressive’ first-round win by submission

Bisping echoed those sentiments and broke down the supreme level of skill required for Pimblett to claim victory on the night.
“He passed that test with flying colours, choked out the king, put him to sleep, went for an armbar. He would've got the armbar had he been awake to tap!
“I guarantee King Green's arm is pretty sore today. Bobby Green - King Green - whatever you want to call him, the man is legit. He's ranked for a reason; he's been around for a very long time. Everyone said ‘he's too fast, he's got the wrestling, Paddy won't be able to take him down.’
“It was his toughest test and one of his quickest finishes. It doesn't get much better than that, certainly when a lot of people think: ‘you're going to get found out, you're going to come out short.' Well, he didn't come up short. He forced Bobby Green to shoot because he was making him feel uncomfortable.
“First, he does the guillotine, then he transitions to a triangle - that was expert high-level stuff, then he goes to the armbar, which wasn't even required. It was beautiful jujitsu.”
The 29-year-old is now targeting a bout with Brazilian Renato Moicano, who most recently overcame Jalin Turner at UFC 300 in Paradise, Nevada.
“I'll tell you what else was beautiful. It was the first time he called someone out, because he doesn't have to do that,” Bisping added.

“In the past, when he wasn't ranked, why was he going to give someone the opportunity to make a name off his back? Now he's in the rankings, and you've got to call your shots. Renato Moicano; that's the perfect call-out, I love that.”
