DeChambeau , who has two LIV Golf wins to his name this season, was on two over and 16 strokes behind third-round leader Rahm.
In a statement, DeChambeau said: "I experienced some discomfort in my wrist during yesterday's round, and have decided to withdraw from the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City to prevent further injury.
"Not how I wanted this week to go, but wishing the Crushers a strong finish. I'm going to take a few days to get evaluated, and hope to be ready for LIV Golf Virginia."
DeChambeau has previously struggled with his wrist, requiring surgery four years ago to repair a fractured hamate bone.
The 32-year-old is scheduled to compete at the PGA Championship at Aronimink in Pennsylvania a week after LIV Golf Virginia.
He was replaced by Mexican Luis Carrera in the Crushers GC line-up for Sunday's team competition.
DeChambeau had looked in strong form before his wrist injury, securing back-to-back playoff victories at LIV Golf Singapore and LIV Golf South Africa in March.
But he struggled in Mexico City, criticising the course conditions during the first round.
"You've got destroyed grass," DeChambeau was heard saying to his caddie.
"Oh, this is rough? Definitely. Good to see," he added. "Guys, this is what we’re playing on, apparently."

Rahm tops Mexico City leaderboard
Spaniard Rahm capitalised upon DeChambeau's absence to claim top spot in Mexico City over the weekend.
Rahm romped to a six-stroke victory with a seven-under-par 64 in the final round to claim his second win of the LIV Tour season, ultimately finishing 21 under.
And it was an all-Spanish podium as David Puig (-15) and Josele Ballester (-14) finished second and third, respectively.
On his win in Mexico, Rahm said: "A little bit disbelief.
"If you were to tell me last week on Thursday afternoon that I'll be winning by a six-shot margin this week, I would not believe you because of how bad I played."
