DREAMY START TO SEASON 12 FOR CITROEN WITH CASSIDY WIN IN CDMX
Nick Cassidy was the star of the show in Mexico City, scoring his first victory of the season with a brilliant climb from 13th to launch his title fight.
Cassidy extended his win tally to 12 in Formula E, gifting his new team Citroen their first victory in the second race of their single-seater campaign.
Edorardo Mortara came home in second place for Mahindra after holding off five challengers, including the reigning world champion, Oliver Rowland.
The Briton shot up to third place, securing crucial points in his title defence as Cassidy asserted himself as the one to beat this season.
It has been a thrilling start to Season 12 with three different constructors standing on the podium in Rounds 1 and 2, as Citroen became the 20th team in the electric racing series to win a race.

ROWLAND: DELIGHTED TO BE ON THE PODIUM
Oliver Rowland, the reigning champion, got off to a rough start, qualifying in eighth place, but he managed to fight his way to third place in his hunt for a second Drivers' Championship.
Rowland said: "I was one of the first to take the attack mode, so when the full cost yellow came out and I'd lost five places, I thought my race was done.
"But we were really efficient, and we could keep the energy, and I could just be quick at the end, and the pace was the key thing.
"I am good. Obviously, I was delighted to be on the podium, but yeah, I got a bit surprised with Edoardo in the last lap - how early he lifted.
"But this is a great event, as always, so much energy here with the whole crowd.
"It's an absolute pleasure to race here, and I hope the fans enjoyed it."

MORTARA: FUN IS NOT THE RIGHT WORD
A great 30th birthday gift for the Swiss-Italian driver, as Edoardo Mortara scored a P2 finish in Mexico after holding off a host of Attack Mode drivers.
Mortara said: "I must say that Nick did a really, really good race, and we started to struggle probably midway through the race, which unfortunately didn't give us the opportunity, let's say, to have a launch in the last laps.
"Still very happy with P2, and we scored great, solid points for us.
"Fun? I don't think it's the right word. I think that it's extremely stressful.
"On top of that, I think that I was having less energy than the others, so I had to defend quite a bit in the end.
"Very happy with this podium."

CASSIDY: WHAT A DREAM START WE'VE HAD
The Kiwi driver started in 13th place and climbed up to the top of the pack to gift Citroen their first Formula E victory in just their second race competing in the electric racing series.
Cassidy said: "This is unbelievable, in front of all these amazing fans. I mean this, this atmosphere is second to none.
"So to get a win here, with Citroen, I mean, what a dream start we've had.
"Just so happy for my guys, and, yeah, thanks to them for believing in me and bringing me to be part of this project.
"I think there's some really cool times ahead. But man, what a moment.
"I didn't think until the last lap that we were okay. I mean, I was happy with a P4 today, starting P13.
"My engineer, Pepe, he's just stuck by me no matter what.
"I get pretty up and down in some sessions, but he's always there.
"We've only had two weekends so far, but he's always been making the right calls.
"This one is very much for him as it is for me, and for our team, because it's the team, the car, the package and the strategy that enabled us to do that race.
"You can't win this race with a bad car."

CASSIDY FOR CITROEN: A DREAMY PAIRING
Nick Cassidy drove brilliantly in the Mexico City ePrix to score his maiden victory with his new team, Citroen. The French manufacturer is enjoying a brilliant campaign in single-seaters, scoring its first victory in just its second race.
Edoardo Mortara finished in second place after a superb defensive race, holding off the reigning champion Oliver Rowland, who came home in third place.

CASSIDY DEFENDS HARD TO SCORE VICTORY FOR CITROEN
Edoardo Mortara had two minutes of ATTACK MODE in the bag to use on a Nick Cassidy overtake, closing Cassidy's three-second gap down to less than a second. The fight to the end will be dirty and rough!
Although Porsche dominated the first half of the race, they sit in sixth and seventh place on the final lap, having been overtaken by the reigning champion Oliver Rowlan,d who found himself in fourth place.
Four drivers fought for the lead behind Cassidy, with Rowland distracting Mortara from fighting for the lead. With just a 0.3 gap, Cassidy is using the very last of his energy to protect his lead.
Scoring his first victory with his new team, Citroen, Cassidy is the winner in Mexico City!

CASSIDY LOOKED TO BUILD A GAP BUT 10 ATTACK MODE DRIVERS ARE CLOSE
With ten seconds of ATTACK MODE left by Lap 33, Jake Dennis fought hard to climb up into the podium positions and was left sitting behind Edoardo Mortara. Dennis searched for a way around Mortara, but the Mahindra driver defended bravely and retained a second-place position.
Dennis walked away having clipped his front wing ever so slightly, but the win is no longer in sight as the race leader, Nick Cassidy, used his final two minutes of ATTACK MODE to retain his lead.
Then it came, a field of blue swept the screen as 13 drivers deployed their last few minutes of ATTACK MODE in the final three laps.
Two laps have been added to the tally after the incidents earlier in the race.

CASSIDY IN THE LEAD BUT MUELLER AND DENNIS ARE COMING
There are four drivers using ATTACK MODE to fight for the lead, and the race lead has swapped six times in the last thirty seconds. By Lap 30, it seems like Mitch Evans will take the lead with more ATTACK MODE in the bag than the rest of the pack.
However, Nick Cassidy has more energy than Evans despite his 17-second ATTACK MODE window. Cassidy took the lead of the race on Lap 31, with one minute left. Behind was Nico Mueller who possessed roughly 10 more seconds of ATTACK MODE while Jake Dennis has two whole minutes more.
As well as this, both Nissan drivers opted to use their ATTACK MODE now with Oliver Rowland using six minutes in one go.

ATTACK MODE DRIVERS PLAY PASS THE PARCEL WITH LEAD
The top three on Lap 24 are Nico Mueller, Edoardo Mortara, and Taylor Barnard. These three drivers all have eight minutes of ATTACK MODE to use in the final stretch of the race, and seem to be holding out until the very last minute. Drivers are allowed to use combinations of two minutes, four minutes, six minutes of ATTACK MODE throughout the race.
There was a massive shunt on Lap 25 with two cars crashing into each other. Antonio Felix da Costa rushed to the pits, with no yellow flags or safety cars.
Da Costa was on the outside line, aiming to overtake two drivers but they essentially played bumper cars as three cars into one is never a good idea.
Mitch Evans opted to deploy four minutes of ATTACK MODE, climbing up to the lead of the race. Nick Cassidy used six minutes on Lap 27, a semi unusual strategy.

MUELLER PROTECTS LEAD OF RACE WHILE ATTACK MODE DRIVERS CLIMB UP THE FIELD
Sebastien Buemi shockingly entered the pits during the safety car period with a puncture in his tyre, dropping to last place from sixth.
On Lap 22, racing resumed and Nico Mueller retained his lead of the Mexico ePrix although his teammate, Pascal Wehrlein, had the fastest times on the sheet.
ATTACK MODE continued with Maximilian Guenther, hoping to climb from ninth place using two minutes of his deployment. Lucas di Grassi, down in 18th place, used four minutes of ATTACK MODE to escape the back of the pack.

SAFETY CAR CALLED
For some odd reason, Nyck de Vries was still sitting in his breached car after two laps of being stuck at Turn 1. Unable to rejoin the race, the Mahindra driver must exit the car so that it can be removed from the track.
On Lap 20, a safety car was brought out.
One driver in a brilliant position is surprisingly Sebastien Buemi, despite tossing his lead away in Turn 1. The Envision driver has more energy than the rest of the pack, and is sitting in sixth place, ready to overtake.
20/36
FULL COURSE YELLOW AS DE VRIES STOPS AT TURN 1
The reigning world champion has been rather absent in Mexico City, with Oliver Rowland down in 11th place despite lapping 0.3s quicker than the rest of the grid.
Antonio Felix da Costa powered through a tricky overtake on Dan Ticktum, bumping the Cupra Kiro driver down to 10th as he picked up a black and white flag for contact with other drivers.
Disaster strikes again for Nyck de Vries as he stopped abruptly in the run-off area of Turn 1 on Lap 17. A yellow flag was waved while two drivers, including Rowland and Sebastien Buemi, were using ATTACK MODE.
It was not the best idea for the reigning world champion, as he was shuffled into the grass and hit the back of Nick Cassidy's Citroen on his return to the track. He dropped to 12th place as a full-course yellow was called.
16/36
ATTACK MODE PHASE ON HOLD?
Heading into Lap 13, Nico Mueller and Pascal Wehrlein are occupying P2 and P3 after a hectic start to the race. Edoardo Mortara leads the pack around the famous Mexico City circuit while his teammate, Nyck de Vries, struggled down in 18th place.
On Lap 14, there were no drivers using ATTACK MODE as they likely opted for a strategy that powered them through the final stint of the race.
In a swift overtake around the inside, Taylor Barnard worked his way past Dan Ticktum before overtaking Wehrlein shortly after in the stadium section for third place.
Stay tuned for what the strategists will do in the final few laps!

MORTARA BUMPS PORSCHE BACK DOWN
In a quick switcheroo, Nico Mueller swapped positions with his teammate Pascal Wehrlein for the lead of the Mexico ePrix, giving Wehrlein a chance to sit in the slipstream of the leading Porsche to regain energy in the car.
Using a clever team strategy to keep both cars in the podium positions, Porsche have protected their lead so far. However, Antonio Felix da Costa is nearing the two cars, sitting in fourth place on Lap 10.
The double world champion was able to briefly split the Porsche duo before falling to fifth place after his ATTACK MODE ended, but it left Edoardo Mortara in seocond place and Wehrlein in third.
Then came Dan Ticktum, who used two minutes of his ATTACK MODE to climb up to third place, bumping Wehrlein down to fourth place on Lap 11. Mortara swiftly shot past Mueller for the lead on the start of Lap 12, bumping Porsche back down.
8/36
PORSCHE SNATCH THE LEAD FROM BARNARD
As it stands on Lap 5, the Formula E champion Pascal Wehrlein, is the only driver using ATTACK MODE. His teammate put in a brilliant move on Taylor Barnard to snatch second place, as three drivers, including Edoardo Mortara, ran into Turn 1 together.
Mortara benefitted the most from this risky move, leading the race on Lap 5 until Wehrlein used his final minute of ATTACK MODE to snatch the lead of the race.
The two Penske drivers sat in fifth and sixth place on Lap 7, plotting on their rise back up to the podium positions as Barnard hoped to clinch his first victory in Formula E.
Two other drivers, Antonio Felix da Costa, and Zane Maloney, deployed four minutes of ATTACK MODE on Lap 7. Da Costa found himself climbing into the top 10 while Maloney managed to escape from the bottom half of the timesheets.
4/36
PORSCHE SEARCH FOR PODIUM POSITIONS
Many fans have been discussing the Porsche powertrain for Season 12, hoping that the German motorsport giants will continue their dominant form. Nico Mueller was the highest placed Porsche driver on the starting grid, and quietly hunts Edoardo Mortara from third place.
His teammate, Pascal Wehrlein, put in the fastest lap of the race so far on Lap 3 as he sits in ninth place. He deployed his first four minutes of ATTACK MODE on Lap 4, quickly disposing of Jake Dennis in his race to the top five.

LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO
The Mexico ePrix is finally underway as polesitter Sebastian Buemi suffered a disastrous start to the 150th Formula E race. He tumbled down from the top of the order after skidding off track. Buemi immediately fell out of contention for victory, sliding wide out of Turn 1 and slowly rejoining the track.
Last year's rookie sensation, Taylor Barnard, took the lead of the race and fought hard to defend from Edoardo Mortara who looked to claim his first victory of the season.

FIVE MINUTES TO GO
There are just five minutes to go until the first electric race of 2026 gets underway. Will Sebastien Buemi hold on to the top spot, or will the Britons usurp the throne?
19:55
CAN CITROEN’S DREAMY CAMPAIGN CONTINUE?
In their first outing as a constructor in single-seaters, Citroen was able to score a podium with former Jaguar driver Nick Cassidy. The Kiwi driver parted from Jaguar over the break to start a new era with the French team and now partners with the only double world champion in Formula E.
Jean Eric Vergne is tied with Cassidy with 11 wins each, and both hope to take Citroen to the top. The French driver joined the team with ease, as Citroen hoped to bring a Frenchman to the forefront of their Formula E campaign.
With Citroen taking their first podium in Round 1, it sets them off on a brilliant note for the rest of Season 12.
19:50
PENALTIES ALREADY?
A handful of drivers have already been slapped with penalties this early in the season, with drama from the opening round of the season causing chaos in Mexico.
Rookie driver Pepe Marti will be forced to start from the back of the grid after causing a collision due to not slowing down in time during a full-course yellow. This is less than ideal for the young Spaniard hoping to make his mark. Lucas di Grassi was awarded a five-place grid penalty, and both Felipe Drugovich and Jean Eric Vergne a three-place grid penalty ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix.
Hopefully, racing in Mexico will go much smoother than in Brazil, but at this altitude, who knows?
