A GLORIOUS DAY IN MADRID FOR JAGUAR, AN EVEN BETTER FOR WEHRLEIN
It was a glorious day in Madrid for Jaguar, with Antonio Felix da Costa leading the British team to their first 1-2 finish of the season.
Da Costa took home his 14th career victory in Formula E, and secured a back-to-back victory to launch himself up to fourth in the Drivers' Standings.
Mitch Evans settled for second place after starting in 16th, but is currently under investigation for a pit boost procedure.
Porsche also had a good day on track with Pascal Wehrlein coming home in third place, extending his lead at the top of the Drivers' standings.
Home hero Pepe Marti also managed to secure some points at the inaugural Madrid ePrix, finishing in the points twice so far in his rookie season.

DA COSTA: 'IT'S A SPECIAL ONE'
The Jaguar driver put in a brilliant performance to prove victorious at the Circuito del Jarama and led Jaguar to their third 1-2 finish in their history. Da Costa scored his 14th victory in Formula E with a stunning performance this afternoon.
Da Costa said: "It's a special one for many, many reasons. Obviously, back to back wins, that doesn't happen often.
"A 1-2 for the team, that doesn't happen often. So massive congratulations to all the boys and girls back in the UK for providing us with these cars.
"It's kind of a home race for me. I have a lot of friends and family here, and, yeah, a bit of a dream day.
"We're both winners. We both wanted to win. I think we just got different messages, but we'll work it out.
"You know, happy for Mitch. He must have done an amazing race. I got to go back and watch that because he came from the back.
"Happy with what we executed today, and it's a dream day."

EVANS: 'WAS NOT THE RESULT I WAS HOPING FOR'
On paper, it should have been a brilliant day for Mitch Evans, who climbed up from 16th place to second. However, Evans seemed to believe the victory was his, although his teammate stood on the top step.
Evans said: "I'm disappointed I should have won the race, but I don't want to take anything away from Antonio.
"He drove a mega race, a 1-2 for the team - the team got the result they wanted.
"I mean, I was playing the long game and had a good energy advantage. They got me in the fight during the pit window and especially towards the end.
"I was surprised to be in the mix, but with my energy advantage, it was going to be a good finish, but still was just not the result I was hoping for.
"It is what it is. But yeah, great one too for the team. Good points for Jaguar."

WEHRLEIN: 'I WASN'T EXPECTING TO FINISH ON THE PODIUM TODAY'
It was Pascal Wehrlein's 21st podium in Formula E with a P3 finish around the Circuito del Jarama, waiting patiently to snatch the position from Dan Ticktum on the last lap.
Wehrlein said: "Yeah, I think what happened very early in the race, when he hit my back and damaged the car quite badly on the rear wing, I wasn't expecting to finish on the podium today.
"Who knows what would have been possible without that contact and a proper car intact and not damaged.
"I think the last couple of laps, I just had to accept that I was not in the fight for the win.
"So I backed off a tiny bit because I was down on energy, but still kept myself in a position exactly for what happened in that last lap between them and Mitch.
"Yeah, I stayed where I could then take the podium and score good points."

JAGUAR BACK ON TOP TO HOLD OFF THE MIGHTY PORSCHE
Antonio Felix da Costa was victorious once again, clinching his second victory back-to-back after a thrilling race around the Circuito del Jarama. He controlled the race using a brilliant strategy, timing his ATTACK MODE and Pit Boost perfectly to win his 14th career victory.
Mitch Evans was able to climb up from 16th place to second in a phenomenal race that saw him scrap with both Porsche and Cupra Kiro for the race. The duo brought home Jaguar's first 1-2 finish of the season, and their first since Monaco 2024.
It was a solid race for Pascal Wehrlein, who came home in third place, having snatched the final podium position from Dan Ticktum at the last corner. Although he did not take the victory, he has managed to extend his lead at the top of the Drivers' Standings.

DA COSTA AND EVANS BRING HOME A 1-2 FINISH FOR JAGUAR
It was a four-way fight for victory between the two Jaguar drivers and the two Porsche-powered cars, but it was Antonio Felix da Costa who came out on top. It was a 1-2 finish for Jaguar in the inaugural Madrid ePrix, and a brilliant P3 finish for Pascal Wehrlein.

22/23
TICKTUM INSERTS HIMSELF BACK IN THE FIGHT
Dan Ticktum and Sebastien Buemi went side by side into Turn 1 on Lap 21, with Buemi holding track position. However, it might not be worth the fight as Ticktum has a minute more ATTACK MODE than his fellow drivers.
The Briton sent his Cupra Kiro around the outside of Mitch Evans and Pascal Wehrlein, moving up to second place. Evans then lunged around the Porsche to knock Wehrlein out of the podium positions on Lap 22.
It could be anyone to take the lead, all on equal terms now that ATTACK MODE has run out.
20/23
DA COSTA HOLDS OFF THE CHALLENGERS
Sebastien Buemi is now the force to be reckoned with, forcing the other drivers in the top five to deploy their ATTACK MODE in the final five laps. Antonia Felix da Costa still held on to the lead on Lap 18, with Buemi around 0.3s behind, also using ATTACK MODE.
As it stands, da Costa will have a minute more ATTACK MODE than Buemi. This leaves Buemi vulnerable in the closing stages of the race, and not just to da Costa but to Pascal Wehrlein too.
Wehrlein swapped positions with his Porsche teammate Nico Mueller for third place, possessing three more minutes of ATTACK MODE than his teammate. For Wehrlein, this could be another opportunity to extend his lead at the top of the Drivers' Standings.
However, Dan Ticktum also looks incredibly strong in fourth place, having overtook Cassidy for the position. He could certainly insert himself in the fight for the victory, inching awfully close to Wehrlein on Lap 20.

18/23
BUEMI COMES OUT OF NOWHERE TO CHALLENGE DA COSTA
The next group of drivers swarmed the pit lane, including Dan Ticktum who seemed to receive the first choice of strategy for Cupra Kiro. He still had his full six minutes of ATTACK MODE to use in the final stages of the race. His teammate shortly followed suit, heading into the pits by the end of Lap 15.
Things are not looking great for our polesitter Nick Cassidy, who was caught up in the middle of the pack, trying to escape and push back up to the lead. Antonia Felix da Costa, however, looks to be in a preferable position. The former Porsche driver managed to hold up Maximilian Gunther while the Penske driver was using his ATTACK MODE, buying time for the rest of the race.
Da Costa has 4% more energy than Gunther on Lap 17, and used this to shoot past the Penske around Turn 3 on Lap 17.
Glory has been lost for Cupra Kiro, as it stands, having left their pit visits quite late. The same goes for Cassidy, who is hoping to use his ATTACK MODE quite late, as he is still struggling in 19th place.
Sebastien Buemi has been a dark horse in Madrid, shooting up to fourth place from 14th on Lap 18, deploying his ATTACK MODE perfectly in time to challenge da Costa.
15/23
CUPRA KIRO MISS FIRST PIT WINDOW
Here comes the first of the pit stops, with Pascal Wehrlein rushing in to receive a pit boost. He was also followed by Antonio Felix da Costa, Maximilian Gunther, Nyck de Vries, and Jean Eric Vergne.
In an interesting decision, both Cupra Kiro drivers opted to stay out on track rather than deciding which driver gets the best strategy. It is a tricky choice for the team, with Marti currently in the lead at his home race, and Ticktum with ATTACK MODE left in third place.
On Lap 13, Lucas Di Grassi used his ATTACK MODE to usurp the lead from the Cupra Kiro driver. At the back of the pack, da Costa led the pit boost group while Gunther pulled a double whammy using his ATTACK MODE on Lap 14.
The pace is already beginning to slow as this track seems to take a lot more energy out of cars like the Citroen, with Nick Cassidy struggling to regain the lead of the race. He tailed behind Marti, who regained the lead when Di Grassi fled to the pits.
12/23
MARTI LEADS ON HOME SOIL
Pepe Marti followed in Felipe Drugovich's footsteps, deploying ATTACK MODE to climb up from the bottom of the pack. It worked well for Drugovich, who found himself leading the race on the start of Lap 8. This strategy is particularly useful for drivers starting lower in the field, and while they may not always retain a high position by the end of the race, they can salvage a finish in the top ten.
A wheel-to-wheel battle unfolded on track as Marti shot past Jake Dennis, with the Andretti driver putting up a brilliant defence on the driver using his ATTACK MODE. Marti managed to climb up to the podium positions, sending his Cupra Kiro around every driver on his way up.
Nick Cassidy held onto his energy with an iron grip, as he was able to tail closely behind Drugovich despite his lead. The polesitter looked as strong as ever, regaining his lead with ease.
However, his joy was short-lived as the home hero, Marti, found himself in the lead of the race, having used his ATTACK MODE to climb up the field. Cassidy has only fallen to third place, behind the two Cupra Kiro drivers debating who receives the first pit stop.

ATTACK MODE DEPLOYED, IT'S HEATING UP
Pit Boost should come into play later on in the race, as the first time the feature will be implemented in a single-header. It will be accompanied by ATTACK MODE, but only one deployment of six minutes rather than two.
The order at the front of the pack remained the same heading into Lap 5, but Felipe Drugovich opted to use his first deployment of ATTACK MODE. He started down in 16th place, looking to overtake his fellow Formula 2 graduate Pepe Marti. He shot past and climbed up to 13th place, on the hunt for some points.
Meanwhile, Nick Cassidy seemed pretty comfortable in the lead of the race with both Pascal Wehrlein and Dan Ticktum backing off ever so slightly.
In the first energy reveal, we can see that the top five drivers all sit in the 73-74% region as they aim to push harder in the closing stages of the race.
Nyck de Vries picked up a five-second time penalty for the collision with Antonio Felix da Costa, although it would help if he had a front wing!

CASSIDY RETAINS LEAD WHILE CHAOS UNFOLDS BEHIND
A red wing has flown into the air, and Nyck de Vries clipped the back of Antonia Felix da Costa while taking the inside line of a corner on Lap 2. He continued through to Lap 3, with a missing front wing.
It is a massive missed opportunity for de Vries, who was flying ahead in the fight for the lead. In another two laps, he was on track to take the lead from Nick Cassidy.
Dan Ticktum has found his way up to P2, getting the inside line on Pascal Wehrlein before losing it just a corner later. The two continued trading positions on track, while Cassidy began to lose some pace.
On the opening corner of Lap 4, Ticktum almost snatched the lead from Cassidy, but the Citroen driver retained his lead.

LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO
Nick Cassidy got off to a great start from pole position, retaining his lead into the first two corners as he defended hard against Nyck de Vries behind.
Antonia Felix da Costa found himself in the tailwind of the Mahindra, while sandwiched between his teammate Edoardo Mortara. Mortara then dropped two places behind as Pascal Wehrlein shot past him in the hunt for the victory.
Wehrlein tailed closely behind his former teammate da Costa, shooting past the Portuguese driver on Lap 2. De Vries managed to hold on to third place, but looked vulnerable to da Costa's challenges.

PIT BOOST IS BACK AGAIN
The all-new feature Pit Boost is back again for Round 6 of Season 12, bringing fans another factor to keep an eye on during the race.
During Pit Boost races, drivers must take a mandatory pit stop in order to gain more energy for the remainder of the race. Paired with Attack Mode, there is a lot to consider.
The first deployment of Pit Boost was seen in Jeddah last season, after two long years of development. Pit Boost is said to revolutionise the mandatory pit stops during the race, gifting drivers a 10% energy boost (3.85kWh). This 34-second stop may require a driver to sacrifice their position, but it will greatly impact their performance in the end after reaping the benefits.

INAUGURAL MADRID EPRIX
It is the inaugural Madrid ePrix today, so we have a lot to learn about how Gen3 Evo cars perform on such a narrow track. As we know, Circuito del Jarama is narrow and winding, and has not treated bulky cars well in the past.
Drivers and teams alike have a lot to discover when racing on a new track, and do not have the advantage of comparing data from previous years. Nonetheless, it seems like the grid is excited for the challenge of racing at a new venue.
Pascal Wehrlein said: ”It's a cool track and it feels like a very old school, with a nice risk and reward feeling if you get the lap right, if you send it into the fast corners, especially.
”So, yeah, looking forward to it. I already enjoyed the winter testing here, and it's cool that we are here to race now.”

CAN WEHRLEIN DO IT AGAIN?
So far, Pascal Wehrlein’s consistency has put him at the helm of the Drivers’ Standings. The German driver has scored points in every single round and has yet to finish outside the top ten. The 2023/2024 champion has stood on the podium twice this season, with one win under his belt as it stands.
The real question is, can he carry this momentum on to win his second title in the electric racing series?
