It might not be the excitement we were after, but no one can deny that Vettel’s season has been remarkable. Hulkenberg overtakes Alonso on the final lap! But, unfortunately for overtaking enthusiasts, the Spaniard dives back up the inside to reclaim fifth...

It might not mean much in the grand scheme of things, but Ricciardo and Button are slogging it out for 10th. The McLaren man makes a late pass to surely steal a point. That's what it's all about.

We’ve barely seen him all afternoon but it’s been another superb drive from Vettel. His final statement to the field is a fastest lap, much to race engineer Rocky’s anguish.

What a lap from Grosjean! Despite having Webber all over the back of him he still manages to post the fastest lap of the race. Webber is sliding all over the track and drops back slightly. That may just be that.

Five laps to go for Vettel. The German is on the verge of an historic eighth straight win and has a 7.7 second advantage on the Grosjean/Webber battle.

Bit risky from the fiery character that is Pastor Maldonado as he pushes Kovalainen extremely close to the pit wall. The Lotus driver squeezes through unscathed and takes 16th.

Bit of a scrap for the final world championship point between Ricciardo, Button, Vergne and Gutierrez. At the front, Webber is right on Grosjean's gearbox.

Charles Pic gets a drive through penalty...

So it's Grosjean vs. Webber. Lotus vs. Red Bull. France vs. Australia. The former wins the battle of lap 48.

Nice little battle between two Brits, Di Resta and Button, over 11th place. The Force India keeps him at bay for now.

Quick word on our leader, Vettel. His lead is up to 10 seconds. Far too easy. Into the final 10 laps...

And Alonso gets past Hulkenberg! He darts down the inside of the German and makes it stick.

Alonso posts the fastest middle sector of anybody to get on the back of Hulkenberg as the pair do battle for fifth. The Spaniard creeps into DRS range.

And this should make it interesting as the pair approach Chilton who is about to be lapped. No drama, though, as both drivers sail past the Marussia.

Di Resta and Ricciardo scrapping over 10th position. The final point is the prize.

Alonso obviously fancies fourth place because his lap times have increased dramatically. He's on the move and charging after Hulkenberg and Hamilton. Does that mean he's going to a two-stop?
