Button steps out to have a look at passing Alonso but thinks better of it this time.

No sign of pit stops yet, but expect the racers to come in any time from now. Mind you, Petrov, who'd done six laps in qualifying on his super-softs, still performing well on this set in the Renault.

"We can have the cars in front, your pace is very strong," Button is told over the radio.

Fastest man on the track now is Button - after a wretched start he appears to have settled into a rhythm and he's caught up Alonso.

Front wing on the track - looks like it belongs to a Virgin.

Hamilton complains to his engineers of a vibration - McLaren tell him that they'll add front wing at the next stop to help solve understeer issues.

Webber, Massa and Alonso are bunching here - the Australian providing a nice tow for the Ferrari pair on the long straight to turn three. No passing move tried yet.

Massa is just beginning to reel in Mark Webber, as a few more spots of rain hit the cameras.

Plenty of nervous faces in the pitlane though about the possibility of rain - it remains light around turn four for now.

Vettel is just ekeing out a lead here - he's pulled out around half a second on the last two laps on Hamilton, moving him nicely out of striking distance on DRS.

One man on the charge is Jaime Alguersuari - the Spaniard has powered up the field to 11th and is closing in on Di Resta.

We're expecting relatively early stops in Korea - the super-softs that these racers are on will wear heavily and have already been used in qualifying.

Not going well for Button at all - he's slipped out of range of the Ferraris and is more concerned with the Mercedes of Rosberg behind him.

Webber in third now, 2.8 seconds adrift of the leading duo. Schumacher meanwhile continues his rise up the field - easy overtake to get ahead of Di Resta for ninth.

1.1 seconds the distance between Vettel and Hamilton - the McLaren man staying just within range.

Turn four is the problem - Vettel told that that is where the rain is falling.

Liuzzi had to go into the pits after losing his front wing. DRS is enabled, so there will be opportunities to attack at Yeongam.

Button has had the rough start - he lost a place to Massa, tried to get it back on the long straight but broke too late into the hairpin, and lost further spots to Alonso and Webber who turned inside him.

Turn four is a little bit wet - not so wet that it requires a tyre change for now though.
