IRAN FAIL TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF 10-MAN BELGIUM
Both sides had chances to win the match in Los Angeles, but they had to settle for a point each.
Rudi Garcia's side controlled the ball in the early exchanges, averaging 70% of the possession in the opening 15 minutes, but despite that, the first big chance of the match fell Iran’s way. The ball dropped to Hossein Kanani inside the penalty area who slammed an effort on goal, only to be denied by a stunning save from Thibaut Courtois, who tipped it behind for a corner.
Iran had the ball in the back of the net 10 minutes later thanks to a brilliantly worked free-kick, with a clever pass being slipped into the path of Mehdi Taremi who fired his effort past Courtois, only for it to be chalked off for offside.

Courtois was called upon once more eight minutes into the second half, with the Real Madrid man doing well to deny Taremi, who struck a venomous volley on target from close range.
Belgium had the best chance of the match just before the hour mark but failed to convert. Kevin de Bruyne brought the ball down on the byline before sending it into the box. The ball fell to Maxim de Cuyper who looked certain to burst the net from just a couple of yards out, only for Alireza Beiranvand to produce a stunning save, instinctively sticking an arm out to deny Belgium an opener.
Iran were given a huge boost in their bid for a victory when young defender Nathan Ngoy was sent off for Belgium 66 minutes into the match for the denial of a goalscoring opportunity. The 23-year-old got his pass back to Courtois all wrong, and then brought down Taremi, who pounced on the loose pass and was looking to profit.
Amir Ghalenoei's side were unable to take advantage of their man advantage, however, with the match ending in a goalless draw.
The group remains wide open, with none of the four teams in Group G managing a victory ahead of New Zealand's match against Egypt tomorrow morning. Up next for Iran is Egypt, and Belgium will take on New Zealand.

SOME TIRED LEGS
There are some really, really tired legs out there on the pitch right now, and the quality of the match is suffering. Lots of stray passes, attacks breaking down and overall lapses in concentration.

A REAL CHANCE FOR IRAN
Belgium have, as expected, shifted into a more defensive structure now and this is a real chance for Iran to get at them and try and take the lead in this game. With 15 minutes plus stoppages left, any goal could prove to be the winner.

A MASSIVE CHANCE FOR BELGIUM!
