GOODNESS ME!
A dreadful first half, a crazy second, and Portugal top Group H - unconvincingly but nevertheless.
FULL-TIME: Portugal 3-2 Ghana
GHANA NEED TO GET IT FORWARD
On their bench, Dede Ayew looks ready to commit murder, as Baba slings in a cross and Costa clear. But what on earth is going on now! Costa doesn't see Williams behind him, he nicks the ball and just as he's about to turn and score, he slips! He can only nudge goalwards, and Dias clears before the shot can dribble over the line! What on earth is going on!
BUKARI HAS DONE WELL
And on the left, he tries a curler from 25 yards and way wide, that has Costa scrambling to his near post to make sure it's going over. Phew, this has been a ride.
OUT OF NOWHERE
This has become pleasingly wild. Ghana had accepted the defeat, but Baba's refusal to give up a lost cause, along with Cancelo's indolence, has made this a game again.
COSTA COMES OUT, MISJUDGES THE FLIGHT AND CLEARS POORLY
So Bruno hauls back Bukari and is booked, before apprising his keeper of some thoughts and feelings.
CHANGES FOR GHANA
Kyereh and Semenyo on, Djiku and Salis off.
DANILO AND WILLIAMS COMPETE FOR THE BALL
Danilo goes down, intimates a bad foul, there's minor pushing and shoving betweeen groups of payers, between the sides, and both protagonists are booked.
THERE'LL BE NINE ADDED MINUTES
This isn't over, as a fool once wrote.
GOAL! Portugal 3-2 Ghana (Bukari) Well! Baba, at fault for Portugal's second goal, chases down the left and won't give up a ball Cancelo wants left to him - he's been poor tonight - his cross is deflected, and Bukari is up early and high to head home a livener! This game is so odd - and, suddenly, so good!
CHANGES FOR PORTUGAL
Bernardo, Ronaldo and Felix off; Palhinha, Ramos and Mario on.
GHANA ARE NOT, THOUGH, OUT OF THE GROUP
A win in their next game, against South Korea, and their match against Uruguay will be an effective knockout tie.
THIS GAME IS OVER
Portugal may score a few more; Ghana are shot.
GOAL! Portugal 3-1 Ghana (Leao) This is what happens when you take off your best players. Guerreiro wins a big tackle in midfield, Bruno carries forward, and times a perfect pass to Leao on his outside, opens his body, and passes a lovely finish into the far corner. On the Ghana bench, Ayew slams down his bottle, and well he might. Two goals in three minutes after he and Kudus went off, and this game is over just as it was getting going!!
GOAL! Portugal 2-1 Ghana (Joao Felix) Carvalho finds Bruno, who slides a pass in behind; Baba should cut it out but the ball gets stck under his feet, and as Zigi comes out too far - Felix lets him go down then sweeps over him ... and Ghana have just removed both first-choice attackers!
WHAT WE HAVE WE HOLD
Bukari and Jordan Ayew replace Kudus and Dede Ayew. I don't get why Kudus isn't being left on, he's inspired Ghana this half and he's their best chance of holding onto their point; Ayew isn't happy to go off either. Portugal send Leao on for Neves.
IT'S BEEN A POOR GAME
But we're set up for a serious finis, as a diag from the right has too much on it for Felix, who leaps in vain.
GOAL! Portugal 1-1 Ghana (Ayew) It's that man Kudus again! He gets away down the left, hits the line, crosses low and hard, and a deflection sets Ayew to drill home from five yards; it's the first goal scored by an African nation at this World Cup, at the fifth attempt. Justice and freedom!
LOVELY FROM PARTEY
A flick around the corner in centrefield setting Kudus free. He's been dangerous this half, he shoots hard, and Costa punches away.
