The atmosphere in Samara for the quarter final between Sweden and England felt strangely subdued, but tonight feels like more of an atmosphere befitting of the occasion.

Here we go. The match is under way in Moscow. It's Croatia against England in the semi finals of the World Cup.

So this is it. England have waited 28 years to get this far in a World Cup, Croatia 20 years. This is a huge, huge match for both countries. A golden opportunity. Who will take it?

A word from the gaffer...
18:45
This is only England's third World Cup semi final, at least when it comes to the men. They made it this far in 1990, when they lost on penalties to West Germany. And of course in 1966 when they beat Portugal.

One thing to note for this game is that all yellow cards have been scrubbed. So there won't be a repeat of Gazza's tears tonight. The only way you can get suspended for the final is by getting sent off.
18:30
Croatia come into this game on the back of two penalty shootout wins over Denmark and Russia. However, they won all three group stage games. They are a force to be reckoned with.

England have done well to get this stage of the tournament, despite the draw falling in their favour. Croatia will present a test the likes of which they have yet to face, though.

For Croatia, the inclusion of Vrsaljko has come as something of a surprise. The Atleti right back is carrying an injury, but he has made the starting lineup for his country. Kramaric is on the bench.

So this is it. The team news for England is that they are once again unchanged. They have picked the same team for the past two knockout games. Alli is fit. There were concerns over him.
