Peep! That's all, and it's over. Spain finish 3rd, Australia 4th after Villa, Torres and Mata did for the Soccerroos. We now have some games with rather more at stake coming up in Group A.

Australia try for a last hurrah, but James Troisi can't get his shot away and Spain clear.

3 minutes of injury-time. Both of these teams will soon be put out of their misery.

They've also been quite good going forward, but this is a poor stat for Australia. They do have some young talent in defence though, so perhaps they'll be OK for the future.

GOAL! Juan Mata makes it 3-0. He gets down the right channel, cuts it back and puts it through the legs of Ryan to add to Spain's lead. Another player who could have a big opportunity to play his way into the new-look Spain side stakes his claim.
76'
Fabregas involved twice, first almost getting on the end of a cross with a rare header, before in the same move he scooshes a shot wide from the edge of the area. After this catastrophe, there's a big chance for Fabregas to be an integral part of this team.

This hasn't been a great game, and by the sound of things, neither has Netherlands-Chile. Some seem convinced the spell of attacking football at the tournament is now over, but these are both dead rubbers. The excitement came in games where there was something at stake.

GOAL! Decent goal by Spain, and Australia are surely finishing this tournament pointless now. Iniesta is given far too much time to pick out Torres with a nice pass, and the Chelsea striker just about squeezes it past Ryan. Even Torres wasn't going to miss with that much time.

Cesc Fabregas gets a shot. It's Santi Cazorla whom he replaces.
65'
Halloran has not had much of an impact since coming on - all his forays down Spain's left are being dealt with quite easily.
60'
Better from Australia as they get it into the box, and when it's cleared McKay tries the volley, but he sends his dipping effort over the bar.
58'
Villa looks close to tears on the bench. It's a hugely emotional moment for him.

97 caps, 59 goals. That's the end of an old song. David Villa comes off, and Juan Mata comes on to replace him.

Australia could probably do with making a change. Their wing play was impressive in the first half but it appears to have suddenly died. They are no longer causing any real problems for Spain.
53'
Iniesta has a good chance to create something down the left as he gets into the Australian area, but his pass is mishit and easily dealt with. There's a bit of a lack of quality in this game aside from Villa's cheeky finish.
50'
Halloran involved for the first time, breaking down the right wing, but he's well-marshalled by Juanfran, and his deflected cross goes straight to a Spain shirt.
48'
Spain look to be more settled, but at the same time they're defending deeper. They're playing Australia, for goodness' sake. Their demise really is incredible.

And we're off. Change for Australia - Halloran on, Taggart off.

The teams are back out here. Can Australia end their World Cup on a high?

Close, but no cigar. The delivery is just too high for anyone to get any meaningful connection on it and the referee blows for half-time.
