The 2025 UEFA Women’s Nations League groups have been revealed, with England drawn against world champions Spain.
Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses last played against Spain in the 2023 World Cup final in August last year, where Olga Carmona's first-half strike earned the Spaniards their first world title.
Spain are also the current Nations League champions after claiming the inaugural tournament triumph in February, overcoming France 2-0 in the final at Estadio Olimpico de Sevilla.
Montse Tome’s side will begin their title defence alongside England in Group A3, while Belgium and Portugal have also been drawn in the same group.
The last time England locked horns with Belgium, Ives Serneels’ side delivered a shock result during the first edition of the Nations League tournament.
After an opener from Laura de Neve, Tessa Wullaert scored a brace to trump goals from Lucy Bronze and Fran Kirby in a topsy-turvy game, inflicting a second defeat to England in the competition, which ultimately cost them a place in the finals.
England have not played a competitive match against Portugal since 2017.
Elsewhere, Scotland have been grouped alongside Euro 2022 finalists Germany, Netherlands and Austria in Group A1.
Wales are also in League A and have been drawn against Italy, Denmark and Sweden in Group A4.
The Nations League campaign will have an impact on the teams' qualification for the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.
The tournament will get underway in February 2025, with the group stages set to conclude four months later in June.
