VILDA FOCUSED ON THE MATCH
As detailed in our preview, there is unrest in Spain's camp due to manager Jorge Vilda. Last year, 15 players said that they would not play for Spain unless Vilda and his coaching staff were removed and changes were made. The RFEF stood behind Vilda despite significant backlash. Now, only three of those 15 players are at the World Cup.
In his pre-match press conference, when asked about the situation, he simply said: “Next question please."
Just now, as the teams were being read out in Stadium Australia, his name was booed heavily by the crowd.

KEY QUESTIONS AHEAD OF ENGLAND V SPAIN

TEAM NEWS
Big call from Jorge Vilda has he opts to start Paralluelo. The teenager was an effective super-sub, scoring big goals in the quarter-finals and semi-finals. She gets the not ahead of Putellas. The two-time Ballon d’Or winner isn't 100% match fit, so the decision makes sense, and she can certainly cause some carnage off the bench!
Sarina Wiegman names an unchanged XI. The big debate was whether James, who has served her two-match suspension, would slot back into her starting spot, but there is only room for her on the bench, as Toone retains her spot as the Lionesses’ number 10. Similar to Putellas, I'm sure we'll see James at some point.
