RUTHLESS ARSENAL BOOK FINAL SPOT
Arsenal booked their place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final by coming from a goal down in the first leg to win 4-1 in Lyon.
Trailing 2-1 from the Emirates the Gunners had a tough task against the eight-time competition winners.
However, a defensive nightmare for the French side saw the ball deflect off midfielder Damaris Egurrola and into the net off goalkeeper Christiane Endler with just five minutes played.
Arsenal then dominated proceedings with Mariona Caldentey striking them two goals up and ahead in the tie on the half-time whistle.
Just a minute into the second half the Lyon defence lacked communication and Alessia Russo pounced to make it 3-0 on the night.
Lyon defender Vanessa Gilles then slipped on the ball allowing Caitlin Foord to score Arsenal’s fourth goal on the night and to seal the win.
Daelle Dumornay pulled a late goal back for Lyon, but it was too late as the Gunners held on for a memorable win.
Arsenal face Barcelona in the final on May 24 after the Spanish giants beat Chelsea 8-2 on aggregate in the other semi-final.
The Gunners will be hoping to win their second UEFA Women’s Champions League crown after winning their first 18 years ago.

IT’S REALLY SPECIAL,’ SAID ARSENAL SKIPPER
Arsenal caption Kim Little said that reaching the Champions League final is a ‘really special moment’.
Little told TNT Sports: "It means a lot, which I think you can tell by the emotion.
"This is an incredible football club and we've had numerous games in the Champions League and not quite made it to the finals since we won it in 2007.
"We’re excited and can't wait to represent this great club in the final."
Talking about the performance in Lyon she added: "I think we've got that within this group.
"We believe in each other. We're very good at executing our game plans and I think we did it fairly well in the first game, but not quite well enough, but then today I think we executed it very well and we were clinical and I think we thoroughly deserved to win.

PUNDIT REACTION
TNT pundits Fara Williams and Karen Carney have given their reaction to Arsenal’s 4-1 win in Lyon.
Carney told TNT Sport: "I’m so emotional, that's got me a little bit, I'm absolutely ecstatic, what a performance, it was classy and it was controlled.
"Honestly, they absolutely deserved it, brilliant, and the manager has been a revelation since she has come in and I’m absolutely thrilled for them. They absolutely deserved it."
Williams added: "If you look back to early parts of the season, they had some really difficult moments.
"I think Renee Slegers has given something different. She has been really refreshing for the players, and I think you saw a massive shift in the players and in the confidence of the players."

ARSENAL ACHIEVE UNTHINKABLE
Even the most optimistic Arsenal fan would have only dreamed about a 4-1 win in Lyon.
A remarkable performance by the Gunners who will go on and face Barcelona in the final on May 24.
It has been 18 years since Arsenal reached and won their only UEFA Women’s Champions League.
Lyon were a shadow of the side who won at the Emirates last weekend and will be left reflecting on a missed opportunity.
