Greece 0 Germany 0 - Result from UEFA Nations League clash as strong Greek defense thwarts Klopp's team

A stubborn defensive display helped Greece remain unbeaten in the UEFA Nations League, as they held Germany to a 0-0 draw on Sunday night.

The hosts could have taken the lead after just three minutes when Giorgos Masouras saw his header from Kostas Tsimikas’ cross superbly saved.

It was Jurgen Klopp’s men who dominated from then on though, creating a slew of chances that they failed to convert, with Florian Wirtz and Jonathan Burkardt in particular coming close.

Burkardt also controversially had a strike ruled out for handball in the build-up, an incident that none of the players on the pitch seemed to spot, while the lively Derry Scherhant proved a constant menace.

Greece manager Ivan Jovanovic made a couple of subs at the break and that tightened things up for his side, but Lennart Karl and Malick Thiaw still wasted a pair of chances for the visitors.

Greece rallied late on and Giorgos Masouras should have done better with a free header at the back post that went wide, while the last big chance at the other end fell to Philipp Treu, who haplessly fired over.

The result means the hosts drop to second spot in the group, below the Netherlands on goals scored, while Germany remain in third, three points behind Greece.

The other group game between the Netherlands and Serbia saw the Dutch pick up a 2-1 victory thanks to Joshua Zirkzee's goal.

The means they go above Greece in the group on goals scored.

Both teams have eight points, while Germany are third - and at risk of a relegation play-off - on five.
