GREAT SAVE!
He made a nervy start to the match, but Verbruggen has come up with two big stops to deny Williams. The left-winger latches onto another through pass having curved his run, peeling off the back of the Dutch defence which is caught too high upfield. He looks to blast it this time, but the Brighton goalkeeper is equal to it with a strong hand.

CLOSE!
Kluivert is getting into the game a bit more on familiar ground, having previously played at the Mestalla in his time at Valencia. He takes a touch out of his feet and lets fly from range, but it's just over!

PENALTY?
Memphis is certain that he's been fouled in the box as he tries to seize upon Justin Kluivert's knockdown under close attention from Robin Le Normand. The referee says no.

SLOWER
The game is being played at a bit more of a relaxed tempo at present, dictated by the Netherlands and being allowed by the hosts, who have eased their press somewhat.
15'
FIRST OPENING
... for the visitors, and it stems from good play by Maatsen down the left, evading the challenge of Mingueza, before looking for Reijnders on the stretch in the middle. However, the AC Milan midfielder can't get the contact he wants on the fired ball into his path, and he can only divert it wide of the post.

GREAT SAVE!
The Netherlands are being torn apart in the early exchanges, as Williams is sent clean through down the left after a spectacular pass from Dean Huijsen. The winger enters the area and looks for the corner, but he's denied by Verbruggen, who makes himself big.
11'
NO GOAL!
Oyarzabal thinks he's doubled his tally after fabulous play from Yamal, who slides away from Maatsen with a superb feint and turn. He speeds clear of the Dutch left-back, feeding Oyarzabal, who bears down on goal and finishes with aplomb into the far corner, but the flag is raised on the near side.

Spain
GOAL! SPAIN 1-0 NETHERLANDS (OYARZABAL)
No mistake from the Real Sociedad forward, as he strokes it beyong Verbruggen in nonchalant fashion. A hip, skip, a slot into the corner, and the Spanish are ahead.
7'
PENALTY!
It's an early spot kick for the hosts, and it all stems from Nico Williams dancing through bodies down the left. He looks to combine with Oyarzabal in the box, and van Hecke is adjudged to have been too forceful on the false nine, who takes a tumble.

TACTICAL OBSERVATIONS
Very much more of a 4-1-4-1 out of possession for the Netherlands, with Reijnders pushing on past de Jong and alongside Kluivert to converge on the Spaniard in possession. Both sides looking to show their intentions early with high-intensity pressing.
2'
IMMEDIATE SPANISH PRESSURE
La Roja are looking to pile on the pressure early here, as Bart Verbruggen is closed down quickly by Oyarzabal and Williams, and he shanks it into the stands.

NETHERLANDS TEAM ANALYSIS
As for the visitors, they're in more of a conventional 4-2-3-1.
Bart Verbruggen is between the sticks, shielded by a cental defensive partnership of Virgil van Dijk and Jan Paul van Hecke. Lutsharel Geertruida and Ian Maatsen are the full-backs, although expect Maatsen to be the more attack-minded of the two.
Tijani Reijnders will do the dirty work while Frenkie de Jong seeks to get the ball down and orchestrate the tempo, while Bournemouth's in-form Justin Kluivert will be buzzing about as a free number 10, picking up pockets of space between the thirds and breaking lines with his ball-carrying and pace.
Cody Gakpo and Jeremie Frimpong are the wide men, looking to supply lone wolf Memphis Depay up top.

SPAIN TEAM ANALYSIS
Let's dissect these two line-ups, shall we?
De La Fuente plumps for his usual 4-3-3, but there are some changes to the side that drew 2-2 in the first leg.
Unai Simon is in net, while Oscar Mingueza and Dean Huijsen come into the back line to join Robin Le Normand and Marc Cucurella.
In the middle, Dani Olmo is given the free role of the trio, while Fabian Ruiz and Martin Zubimendi are the steel and the legs, combined with laser-like passing accuracy and forward-thinking play.
Nico Williams, of course, is off the left, while Mikel Oyarzabal - who broke England hearts last summer in the final of Euro 2024 - is up top. Wonderkid Lamine Yamal completes the attack.
