REPORT
Kylian Mbappe and Michael Olise were on the scoresheet as France rode their luck to beat Germany 2-0 in the third-place playoff of the Nations League.
Les Bleus were under the cosh for most of the first half with Nick Woltemade's effort saved by Mike Maignan and Niclas Fulkrug's shot cleared off the line by Lucas Digne.
Julien Nagelsmann's side were awarded a controversial penalty around the half-hour mark when Karim Adeyemi went down after a collision with Maignan and Loic Bade. But after a VAR review, the referee changed his mind and booked the Borussia Dortmund forward for simulation.
A few minutes later, Liverpool target Florian Wirtz hit the post with a scuffed effort which had Maignan wrong-footed.
On the stroke of half-time, Mbappe makes it 50 goals for France after controlling Aurelien Tchouameni's deep pass, cutting inside and firing the ball past Ter Stegen from a tight angle.
Mbappe spurned a golden opportunity to double France's lead at the start of the second half after being put through on goal, firing his effort into the side-netting.
France got another slice of luck when substitute Deniz Undav had a goal disallowed after a VAR check for a foul on Adrien Rabiot in he build-up.
Didier Deschamps's side improved as the half wore on with Rayan Cherki, on his first start, dragging a shot wide and Marcus Thuram rattling the post with a curling effort.
And they sealed victory six minutes from time through substitute Olise from Mbappe's pass to take third place in the tournament with Portugal facing Spain tonight in the Nations League final at 8pm BST.

LES BLEUS FINISH THIRD IN NATIONS LEAGUE
France end their season with a win to remind the world of their embarrassment of riches in attack.
Kylian Mbappe scored his 50th goal for his country and is only one behind Thierry Henry and seven behind Oliver Giroud in the all-time standings.
Lyon's Rayan Cherki made his first start and had a bright game. The French also brought on Desire Doue and Michael Olise late on and it was the latter who wrapped up victory after a mix-up in the German defence.
Julien Nagelsmann may feel his side deserved more after Mike Maignan made 4 or 5 top saves, Florian Wirtz hit the post and Deniz Undav's goal was disallowed after a VAR check.
Germany lose back-to-back Nations League games for the first time in almost seven years.
