Modric will lead his country out for the 49th time tonight, and could make it number 50 as Croatia captain when they play Austria on Sunday.

On his retirement, Modric said: "I haven't made a decision. There are more important things happening now, like these Nations League matches and the World Cup.

"After that, I will see how it goes and make a decision accordingly."

Both sides were victorious in their previous Nations League outings in June. Croatia recorded a shock 1-0 away win at France, whilst Denmark comfortably eased past Austria, winning 2-0.

Croatia beat Denmark in the previous game, though. Mario Pasalic scored in the 69th minute to give the 2018 World Cup finalists all three points.

Captain Simon Kjaer returns to an injury-hit Denmark squad and partners Andreas Christensen at the back for the visitors.

Croatia's 4-3-3 line-up isn't far from what you'd expect. Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic start in midfield either side of Marcelo Brozovic, as Ivan Perisic returns to his more advanced role on the right of a forward three.
