But Thuram insists all is not lost.
"We are convinced that we can beat Arsenal and qualify for the next round of the competition," said Thuram. "We messed up in the first game, but at the same time we already know what we must do to overturn the 2-0 loss."
Fabio Capello will have to do without the suspended Jonathan Zebina and Mauro Camoranesi after their first-leg red cards, while ex-Gunner Patrick Vieira also misses out after a yellow card saw him incur an automatic ban.
But with the scudetto all but wrapped up, the Champions League has become Juve's number one goal for this campaign.
And with the inspirational Pavel Nedved returning to the starting line-up, Thuram is convinced the Old Lady can turn the tables at the Delle Alpi.
"We know that we are a strong squad. No game is ever decided before it has even kicked-off," said the ex-Monaco and Parma stopper.
"We have the ability to write the chapter which will take Juventus to the semi-finals of the Champions League on Wednesday."
