Turkish side Trabzonspor have made a loan offer to Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, while Newcastle United recently rejected Bayer Leverkusen’s enquiries over their defender Sven Botman. Elsewhere, Crystal Palace failed in an effort to sign Joe Gomez from Liverpool, and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani may make a takeover offer for Tottenham Hotspur.

Onana lined with Trabzonspor loan
Andre Onana could be on his way out of Manchester United, at least for the rest of the season.
He is reportedly weighing up a loan move to Turkish side Trabzonspor after the arrival of Senne Lammens.
The Sun writes: "Onana, 29, has been on the bench for United's last two Premier League games and looks to have fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim.
"He could get back in between the sticks after United agreed a loan deal for the goalkeeper to move to Turkish club Trabzonspor.
"It's claimed that a verbal agreement over the deal is in place.
"However, his exit is yet to be sealed with Onana holding the final word on whether he wants to leave or not.
"Onana has been linked with an exit all summer and has come under intense scrutiny since his £47m arrival from Inter Milan in 2023."
Newcastle turned down interest in Botman
Newcastle United are said to have rebuffed interest in their central defender Sven Botman as Bayer Leverkusen made a move.
The German side needed to find a replacement for their own centre-half Piero Hincapie, sent initially on loan to Arsenal.
The Mirror states: "Newcastle blocked Bayer Leverkusen's bid to sign Sven Botman on deadline day as the German side looked to replace Arsenal-bound Piero Hincapie.
"Leverkusen have seen their team ravaged by outgoing transfers this summer, agreeing to sell Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool for nearly £150 million combined, while captain Granit Xhaka was also sold to Sunderland and Jonathan Tah left on a free transfer. And after also losing key defender Hincapie to Arsenal late in the window, club chiefs attempted to replace him with Newcastle centre-back Botman, to no avail.
"German outlet Kicker claims Leverkusen weighed up a number of ‘suitable candidates’ to replace Hincapie after Arsenal agreed a season-long loan with an option to buy for around £45m. But after initially putting out the feelers to sign Botman, they were forced to look elsewhere because they ‘weren't given access’."
Palace wanted Gomez
Crystal Palace were denied the chance to sign Joe Gomez as part of a deal to sell Marc Guehi to Liverpool this summer.
Palace ultimately failed to let Guehi move to the champions after they struggled to find someone to replace him.
The Mail explains: "Guehi looked set to join Arne Slot's champions after the fee was agreed, he underwent a medical, a five-year contract was drawn up, and his farewell message to Palace was recorded.
"Palace had seemingly assumed they were set to sign a replacement in the final hours of the transfer window, with Brazil defender Igor Julio lined up for a season-long loan switch from rivals Brighton.
"When that was communicated to Liverpool, the process of completing the move began, but Arne Slot's side still had to wait for the green light from Palace, who wanted a left-sided centre back literally through the door before giving that.
"Igor was set to join Palace but instead went to West Ham. That left Oliver Glasner's side high and dry, and they had no issues pulling the plug.
"Earlier this summer, Palace requested either Gomez as part of the deal or £50 million in cash for Guehi."
Qatari linked with Tottenham takeover
Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani has been linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur after Daniel Levy’s exit.
The Qatari had previously shown interest in Manchester United, but was beaten to a stake by Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
The Daily Star reports: "Manchester United fans' dreams of Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani taking the reins of the club may have been dealt a blow following recent developments at Tottenham.
"Spurs dropped the bombshell this week that their chairman of 25 years, Daniel Levy, had parted ways with the club. This news sent shockwaves through the football world given Levy's deep affection for the north London club and his previous insistence that he wouldn't step down.
"Rumours are swirling that Levy was nudged out by the owners, the ENIC Group, as they aim to elevate Spurs to new heights. Despite Tottenham's statement insisting that this decision won't lead to a takeover, speculation is rampant that the owners will sell up sooner rather than later.
"Newcastle's former owner Amanda Staveley has previously shown interest in investing in Spurs, as has Sheikh Jassim. The Qatari banker was a leading contender to buy United when the Glazers were open to offers."
