Consortium may return with new Spurs bid
The Sun reports that Brooklyn Earick, the head of a consortium that has expressed an interest in buying Tottenham, could make a new offer.
The group are believed to have offered £3.3 billion up front for the London club, and may come back with improved terms after that was rejected.
The paper writes: "Spurs have rejected the world record £4.5bn takeover offer from US tech guru Brooklyn Earick.
"But the club’s official response to the bid leaves open the door for the former DJ to make his offer formal and see if a deal can still be done.
"SunSport exclusively revealed how Earick, 41, is heading a 12-strong consortium of US investors, including NFL and NBA owners, who are keen to buy out ENIC and the Lewis family.
"The American’s ‘Tottenham 3.0’ blueprint envisages a £3.3bn up front payment for the club, with a further £1.2bn allocated for a ‘player budget’ for recruitment, wages and agents’ fees.
"Earick and his colleagues believe they have the platform to turn Spurs into a global superpower with their spending plans."
Newcastle cash injection does not affect transfer plans
The Athletic reports that a £111.5 million cash injection from Newcastle United’s owners may not be spent on players.
However, the club is expected to back Eddie Howe in the January transfer window with more signings.
The website explains: "Newcastle United’s owners have injected a further £111.5 million ($149.1m) into the club, the highest-value share issue since the takeover.
"This is the ninth injection of capital since the club was bought in October 2021, by a consortium led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), who own 85% of the club. The Reuben family, whose representative on Newcastle’s board is Jamie Reuben, own the remaining 15%.
"The latest equity share issue, as with the majority of the previous ones, is to help with cashflow over the winter months and provides for day-to-day running costs. It does not necessarily directly affect Newcastle’s January transfer plans and instead will be used to pay wages, maintenance and to cover other daily expenditure.
"It is unlikely to directly affect Howe’s January transfer budget, though. Newcastle’s PSR (the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules) position will not be improved by this injection, even if it was boosted by Isak’s departure.
"There is expected to be money available for Howe to invest in the squad in January should he wish to do so, however, and that was the case before this share issue."
Savinho to end speculation with new deal
After a summer where Savinho was heavily linked with a £70 million switch to Tottenham, the Brazilian is set to commit to Manchester City.
The Brazilian is set to agree new terms on a six-year contract with his current club, according to the Daily Mail.
The paper reports: "Savinho is in line to net a new six-year contract at Manchester City after flirting with a move away to Tottenham in the summer.
"Spurs registered serious interest in the Brazil international after Son Heung-min departed, James Maddison’s anterior cruciate ligament injury and missing out on Eberechi Eze.
"Savinho was open to leaving the Etihad Stadium but Spurs weren’t willing to match City’s valuation, believed to be north of £70 million.
"City are in negotiations with the winger’s representatives over a fresh deal and hope that an agreement could be reached in the coming days."
Liverpool face Guehi frustration
Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi remains a target for Liverpool, who may have hoped to move in January to sign the England international after Giovanni Leoni’s knee injury.
However, the Daily Star reports that Guehi may wish to wait for his contract to end this summer, and Real Madrid could then provide competition for his signature.
The paper states: "Marc Guehi might have slipped through the net during Liverpool's record-breaking spending spree, but it's no secret that the Premier League champions are still keen on luring the England defender to Anfield.
"The suspected ACL injury sustained by 18-year-old Giovanni Leoni has further highlighted Liverpool's need for defensive reinforcements and could even prompt them to fast-track plans to bring in Guehi, 25, who has continued to impress in South London.
"The only snag is that Guehi is content to wait until next summer, when he will be a free agent with his choice of clubs. And while Liverpool may still fancy their chances of securing Guehi then, we now know that the former Chelsea player would jump at the chance to discuss a move to the Bernabeu with Real Madrid."
