Milan eye January move for Gomez
Italian outlet CalcioMercato reports that Joe Gomez could move to AC Milan in January, with the defender among the targets established by sporting director Igli Tare.
Having made just one start - in the Carabao Cup - and only two appearances elsewhere for Liverpool this season, Gomez has played back-up to Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate thus far.
Gomez made 17 appearances across all competitions in Liverpool's Premier League title-winning season last term and, according to the report, he could be the latest English player to head abroad.
The proposed move would see him team up with compatriots Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek at the San Siro.
The website reports: "The English centre-back, born in 1997, is still a target for Tare, who has every intention of strengthening the defence, especially because the young player represents an investment for the future.
"With eyes also on Germany and France in search of the right profile, Milan does not want to miss the opportunity to satisfy [Massimiliano] Allegri with a coup in the weakest department, the defence."

Deco reveals Man City approach for Barca star
In an interview with Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, revealed Manchester City made a summer approach for Jules Kounde.
Kounde 26, signed a new five-year contract with Barca in August, and Deco said that move came shortly after City enquired about a potential deal - an approach which was swiftly shut down by the Catalan club.
The Spanish outlet cited Deco saying: "Look, wanting to sign is very subjective. No, there wasn't an offer.
"The only thing I do know is that City, and now there's [director of football] Hugo Viana and before that there was Txiki [Begiristain], were looking for a full-back, and of course they asked us if Kounde was on the market.
"And we told them no. So there was no offer or any negotiation. It's like if I knew a sporting director at a club and I would call them and ask why we were looking in that position and if you think or are considering whether it's for sale...
"As we've said from the beginning, the relationship with City, with Txiki, and now with Hugo Viana, who is my friend, is good and direct, without any intermediaries that don't exist."

De Jong nears new Barcelona contract
Diario SPORT reports that Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is close to signing a new contract which would see his terms renewed until 2029.
De Jong's existing deal is set to expire in the summer, and an extension - which SPORT claims is imminent - would represent the end of a lengthy saga, with reports suggesting the Netherlands international's contract proved problematic during Barca's financial struggles.
The report reads: "A decision has been made regarding Frenkie de Jong's contract renewal. After many years of uncertainty surrounding one of Barca's most controversial contracts, SPORT has learned that the club has just agreed to extend his contract for the next three years.
"The decision comes after weeks of intense negotiations in which the player's agents have been in constant contact with sporting director Deco.

"The meetings, both in person and by telephone, have allowed rapid progress to be made until a full agreement was reached. The face-to-face summit that SPORT reported on a few weeks ago proved decisive in getting the deal on track.
"At that meeting, De Jong's representatives conveyed to the club the player's desire to renew as soon as possible and to facilitate the process without creating obstacles, something that was very well received by the club.
"According to SPORT, talks are so advanced that the parties have already begun the process of exchanging documents. De Jong has given his final approval to the contract and the club's general manager, Manel del Rio, was the first to sign to authorise the deal.
"The remaining formalities will be completed in the coming days. All that is missing is the signature of president Joan Laporta and vice president Rafa Yuste, as well as other members of the board of directors, who will do so shortly."

Milan eye Lewandowski
SPORT has reported that Milan have made an enquiry for Robert Lewandowski.
Lewandowski, 37, scored 42 goals for Barca last season, and already has four in eight games this campaign. His contract runs until June 2026, but could have a further 12 months added on through a club option.
Milan's summer deal for 40-year-old Luka Modric from Real Madrid has so far been deemed a success, and they could now move for another player with world-class pedigree nearing the end of his career.
SPORT claims: "Milan has begun to enquire about Robert Lewandowski's situation and has already positioned itself for the Polish striker's future, whose contract expires at the end of this season and could end his successful run with the Blaugrana team.
"The Italian club's sporting director, Igli Tare, has met with the striker's agent, Pini Zahavi, in recent days to discuss various transfer market issues and asked directly about Lewandowski and his future intentions, according to journalist Luca Cohen.

"Milan would like to get ahead of the market by making clear its interest in a striker who, at 37, is still highly sought after.
"Lewandowski signed a three-year contract with Barca, with an option for a fourth year, and is now in his final year, waiting to make a decision about his future.
"The Polish striker is convinced that he can continue at the highest level in European football, at least for the next season, although he is open to all scenarios.
"In any case, the Polish player is very happy at Barca and in Barcelona, and he is not ruling out staying for another year if his performance this season continues as it has so far.
"Barca are also in agreement to extend his contract so that he can continue to be an important player in the Blaugrana project."
