Salah set to stay at Liverpool

Mo Salah's future has been the subject of huge speculation over recent months, but now - according to a report in The Mirror - the Egyptian looks set to remain at Anfield.
The report reads: "Mo Salah is on the brink of signing a new two-year contract with Liverpool to end all doubts about his Anfield future.
"A compromise deal between the club’s owners Fenway Sports Group and the 32-year-old Egyptian king has been thrashed out after months of negotiations."
It added: "With no sign of Salah’s influence waning – he is the Premier League’s leading scorer - and created Premier League history at Newcastle on Wednesday night to score and assist in 37 separate games overhauling Wayne Rooney’s record of 36 games, FSG have finally come to the Anfield party.
"Barring any last minute hiccups, Salah will put pen to paper on a new lucrative two-year contract which will also be music to manager Arne Slot’s ears, the Dutchman having quickly realised he has inherited a gem."

Ten Hag could block Raum transfer to United

Manchester United have been linked with RB Leipzig defender David Raum, who could fill the void left by Luke Shaw’s injury.
However, the Mirror believes that Erik ten Hag may get the job at RB, which could block Raum from moving to the Dutchman’s previous club.
The paper explains: "Erik ten Hag could be about to join forces with Jurgen Klopp at RB Leipzig - and that could be bad news for Manchester United’s hopes of landing German international David Raum.
"New United boss Ruben Amorim has made signing a new left-back a priority after inheriting Ten Hag’s squad - and the versatile Raum fits the bill perfectly. But Leipzig coach Marco Rose is coming under intense pressure after a poor run of results and speculation is growing that the club have already sounded out Ten Hag as a replacement.
"The Dutchman would demand a big say on transfer policy - and he would be unlikely to allow a key player to join the club that has recently sacked him.
"Leipzig beat Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Cup in midweek after going five games without a win in the Bundesliga and Champions League. Tuesday night’s visit to Aston Villa is being viewed as a pivotal game."

Keita set for Hungary move

Former Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita looks unlikely to spend much longer with Werder Bremen.
The 29-year-old has struggled in the Bundesliga since his 2023 move and could be set for a loan switch to Ferencvaros.
The Daily Mail explains: "Naby Keita faces restarting his football career with Ferencvaros in Hungary after his free transfer from Liverpool to Werder Bremen went spectacularly wrong.
"Keita, still only 29, left Anfield in the summer of 2023 after five years in the Premier League in search of regular football after injuries restricted him to 49 league starts.
"But his downfall at Bremen has been spectacular. He was named as the Bundesliga’s biggest flop and has only played five matches in the German top flight. In April, he was suspended for the [rest] of the season and fined, accused of not turning up for the team bus for an away game.
"Now it appears the two parties will split in January.
"Hungarian champions Ferencvaros are the named destination, where Keita could even come up against old rivals Manchester United in the Europa League this season."

Barca open to De Jong sale

The Athletic reports that Barcelona remain ready to sell Frenkie de Jong after years of speculation.
The Dutchman has a contract that runs until 2026, and is owed deferred pay from his first year.
The website reports: "The president Joan Laporta’s board of directors wanted to sell the player when they had big offers for him, then when he wanted to stay there was the narrative in the press that he was paid a lot of money.
"Despite everything that has happened, De Jong still wants to rebuild himself and prove his worth on the pitch. He wants to stay in Barcelona and so does his family. The club still owes him deferred money and he has a contract until 2026.
"They are still open to selling him, though. Firstly, because of his salary and the financial opportunities that a transfer would bring; and secondly, because his position is already well covered by Casado and Marc Bernal, and even Gavi."

Messi set for Inter Miami stay

Inter Miami are confident that Lionel Messi will sign fresh terms with the club.
The forward’s contract expires in 2026 but the club’s co-owner Jorge Mas hopes to sit down with him to negotiate another deal.
The Sun reports: "Lionel Messi has won the MLS MVP award after a stunning season with Inter Miami - and could be set for more with David Beckham's club.
"The Argentina captain's contract runs out next December, but co-owner Jorge Mas is ‘very confident’ that his star player will sign a new deal.
"Mas said: ‘As I said before, I'm very confident that he'll be opening our new stadium in '26.
"‘I'll be sitting with Leo, you know, now at some point in the off-season.
"‘And I'm optimistic that as long as Leo's health holds up, that we'll be seeing him in pink.’"
